I tried something a little different and that is using a texture as a background and then just added some light in a couple of places.  I much prefer setting up a scene or going on location though using this method can be useful at times.

21 Shoe Hopscotch

Coming soon is the new round of the 21Shoe, a monthly event that happens on the 21st of each month that gives us shoe lovers a two-for-one bargain on new and exclusive shoes. I’m showing off the shoes that HopScotch will have for this November round.   The red/gold shoes I’m wearing are called Capture and are designed to fit the SLink medium feet.  The second pair of shoes near the table are purple with an orange lining named Sidney, and also made to fit the medium mesh feet by SLink.

You can check out the 21Shoe website as the 21st approaches to take a look at the other shoes that will be available during this round.  All the shoes can be found at the main stores and you can also grab the slurls from the website.  The other thing about this event is that it only lasts 24 hours, from 12:01 am SLT on the 21st of each month.

You could say I’m doing a two-for-one post today.  So this is what happens when you’re still half asleep.  I’m wearing the two shoes from *YS&YS* that will be sold also on the 21st.  The Tivoli a smooth crocodile black and the Latina open toe in beige.  The shoes are made to be used with SLink high feet and you will get two versions of the shoes — one with “sock” in the name that are made to be used when you want to apply socks to your feet.

Remember the shoes are only available for 24-hours from 12:01 am SLT on the 21st of November.

I’m thinking of my feisty 81 year old grandmother who killed a 4 foot snake in the garage with the end of a bat the other day when I wrote my title for this blog post.   She’s formidable and I hope that if I get to reach her age in this life time that I am just as gutsy as she is.  She did the dirty deed and I got to do clean up, picking up the still slithering snake and dump it into the lake behind the house.   You could say that’s one of the disadvantages of living in Florida and near water.   Not to mention impatient women who will take matters into their own hands when it comes to protecting their own.

I was contemplating earlier whether I missed blogging or not and it was sort of in the middle. When I think back on why I originally started to blog over a year ago it was just to use it as a vehicle to take up my interest in writing and also document my time in Second Life.  It was a novel idea, with no forethought as to what I would share — given that I rarely did much more than hang out at music venues and decorated a new house every few weeks with the occasional hanging out with a few friends.

Today, my inner circle of friends can be practically counted in one hand and honestly I prefer it this way.   Gone are the days of listening to music and actively exploring in Second Life.   It’s a toss up if those things would hold my interest again for long and yet they can be dumped into the cyclical category.  Though stepping away from SL even if just a few days both physically and mentally has helped me tremendously regain some perspective and given me the motivation to move forward once again.

With that said I’m showcasing here some stuff from the current round of events that are happening on the grid.  I’ve become quite a fanatic of these fantasy role-play outfits that perhaps I should consider taking up some kind of role-play.

SL Bare Face Challenge.

There is a challenge going around in the SL Flickr to share a photo of yourself without makeup, no eye lashes or any type of enhancement and absolutely no Photoshop of your picture.  I was in the mood to take a picture and decided to give it a try.   This is me in all my pixel naturalness.

Juggler

Over the weekend the temperatures dipped into the mid 40s, which is a bit chilly for us Floridians when you’re used to an average of 80 plus degrees of sunshine.   It was a nice change even if I hardly went out other than a few times out of necessity. Besides the chilly day yesterday I was also in a very restless mood that as the day went on juggled between feeling emotional and downright grumpy. Thankfully, no one was harmed during this episode of changeability.

I spent a good amount of time doing inventory while in Second Life, not necessarily deleting, more like organizing and rewriting descriptions to be able to find items in the future.  It’s how I found myself wearing this cape and fools hat that were a gacha purchase at the recent round of the Fantasy Collective, which is still running for a few more days.

While editing the photo I did a quick search on the fool and found this snippet of information on what the fool means in a card reading.

“The Fool can signal a new beginning or change of direction – one that will guide you onto a path of adventure, wonder and personal growth. He also reminds you to keep your faith and trust your natural responses. If you are facing a decision or moment of doubt, the Fool tells you to believe in yourself and follow your heart no matter how crazy or foolish your impulses may seem.”

Considering that I have always found that when I’m feeling restlessness that it signals a time of transition in my life, this descriptive meaning couldn’t have fit any better.

Penthouse Please

The Cosmopolitan Room is celebrating a second anniversary and has some great bargains like this on the daring side little red dress that I couldn’t resist buying for very little lindens.  These heels made for slink feet that come in an assortment of colors for also a minimal amount.

Though I have to warn you ladies that you might get more than you bargained for.  I didn’t expect to be propositioned with an offer to get married and raise up 5 or 6 prim babies and live happily ever after.  Makes me kind of chuckle at the lines people use as a conversation starter today than lets say 20 years ago when I was more into the chat scene.  Though I must agree with his remarks.  If you can’t laugh at yourself and others in here, act silly and have a little fun and not take this too seriously, then don’t bother logging in.  I told him a simple hello still works and his response is that it might get you in the door, but after that you had better have game and be on your toes lest she lose interest.  I guess he makes a point as you know how finicky we women can be.  Plus it doesn’t hurt the ego when you’re complimented, even if I take those things with a grain of salt.

Taking a break from trying to decorate a new home I went to Collabor88 hoping it wouldn’t be so crowded to move around and shop freely.  It was better, though still fairly full and difficult to maneuver with the speed of my internet these days.  I found this luggage cart, which reminded me of this elevator prop and well it lead to doing this picture.

Spacing out.

Just something fun.

Over the weekend I updated my profile picture on the few media sites I use.  Really there are only two that I use frequently, which are this blog and Flickr.  I am registered on a couple other sites that I don’t use very much. For example, one I have and don’t use is Facebook that I joined at the prodding of a friend.  I haven’t used it for any purpose other than to add them.  I have never been a big fan of this social network even if many people I know use it more avidly than I ever will.   It used to be that I heard everyone talking about it, and now the talk seems to be all about Instagram rather than the latter. The other media outlet I use even though most of my albums are private is google photos.  I tend to sign up to these sites to check them out as a viable option and then find that I’m either quickly bored or they tend to be rather difficult to understand and so I let them fall by the wayside.  I should delete them at some point.

This picture is somewhat of a change than my usual — it’s just for a bit of fun.  Thanking my friend Claire, who sent me the rare little alien “Khany” that is accompanying me on the space rocket.  Check out her blog and her post showing off her space suit and her wicked hair.  I think that’s her aversion to kids in SecondLife, even though I think she’s starting to like my little imp.  🙂

Today I happened to see the new meme that Strawberry posted that deals with death.  A bit of a morbid subject to write on your birthday, though it seemed like an interesting meme to participate in. The instructions if you wish to participate is as follows:  Meme instructions: Answer the following questions about death.   1. Do you ever think about dying? How do you expect you’ll die?– Hardly ever.  I probably have those thoughts when I hear of someone dying in such a terrible way that my mind gravitates to wondering how I will pass on.
  2. Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, how do you visualize it? I grew up believing that there is and not something I ponder on today that much.  I sort of fall into the belief that our spirit lives on.  I want to visualize coming back like in some movies where you get the chance to come back to life, but only a handful of people can see you as you’re given some assignment before entering the pearly gates.
  3. What is your preferred form of apocalypse and why?– I don’t have one.  I just hope to be gone if it happens.
  4. How many times have you cheated death so far?– I am sure more than what I know — as recently I found out that as a baby I was very sick with high fever and in the hospital for a few days.  Outside a car accident I really can’t think of anything else.
  5. Which fictional villain would you be okay being killed by?– Gosh.  I don’t watch enough television or seen many movies lately to know who plays a villain and worth being killed by.  Though I know who I would want to be rescued by… he comes to mind because he recently graced the cover of a magazine I received — William Levy.
  6. If you’re murdered, do you stay and haunt the culprits forever or do you give up that opportunity to leave and go to heaven/hell/Cancun?– Nah.  I believe in that you reap in what you sow.  I’ll go on to heaven please.
  7. Will you have done everything you have wanted by the time you die?– Probably not.  There’s always one more thing to get done.
