I tried focusing on playing with the settings and trying new wind lights with this picture. Except my hard drive starts working overtime when I click the button to use shadows, not to mention it also slows me down terribly and makes it harder to take the picture. Maybe one day I will really hunker down and start to learn all the tools and tricks to using the photo tools that are part of the Firestorm Viewer with hopes for a great shot and not over tax my system. While I love learning new things I have this thing about having to do too much work in Second Life for something that’s supposed to be just fun.

Though I can’t discount that I really enjoy taking pictures and learning new angles, lighting and even the editing to improve the picture to a desired effect. It sometimes gives me the urge to begin taking pictures in real life… though it means I will probably have to invest in a new camera. My over used Nikon D60 isn’t as fast as it once was and I like being able to click without having too much of a delay.

Today I am showing this set of exclusive jewels from Terra d’ombrA, which are one of my favorites of the new releases. The whole set is just magnificent and I totally loved wearing it with this gorgeous dress from Distorted Dreams. I’m also trying out a new skin and hair that I found at this round of the Dressing Room.

Aria at the Arcade

Let the countdown begin! Observing the arcade chat from time to time there is some eager anticipation and the excitement seems to be building up. Many are waiting and hoping that they will be one of the lucky ones to click in the right moment and gain access into the Arcade when the doors open. Those who were terribly eager took advantage of the early access passes that were being offered to the general public. Unfortunately, the twenty $5,000 linden passes are sold out.

Here are some goodies from ARIA that will be available at the Arcade. It is the Gretchen cozy corner set in an Autumn theme. The set has a total of 17 pieces, three are rare and only 50L per play. The chair is rare and is texture change in several nice colors with animations for single and PG couple cuddles. All items are materials enabled and low land impact. Items are modifiable and transfer. In the picture I increased the size of the picture frames and the vases on the floor.

Dr. Space Birthday Cake

At the request of many fans of the show. Aphrodite Shops has released a whole set of cakes in the theme of Dr. Who. This 4-layer cake has blow-able candles by a mere click. It gives you the traditional happy birthday song by clicking on the platter. Like all previous cake releases it gives you an abundance of cake flavors on touch along with the fork to eat the cake. The cake flavors are rainbow, lemon pie, tiramisu, chocolate, strawberries & cream, dulce de leche and two chocolates.

The best of all is that you can eat as much cake as you want in-world without gaining any weight. That’s my kind of cake!

As I sit here thinking about my title. It sort of rings true that Second Life is really like starring in your own movie that you direct. You get to create your own character and direct the story to a certain extent. When I first started I remember teasing it was like starring in my own animated Disney movie and playing dress up. As you can see I have just as much fun dressing up my child alt as I do dressing up my adult avatar.

Even though today I’m just goofing. It was fun putting together these cute “Inside the Story” items from 8f8 that are available at the Dreamers Factory event until the 22nd of August.

Preparing dinner…

Since growing up a barbecue grill was a common thing at our home. The type and size of grill has changed over time, going from a round red grill with wheels to the stainless steel gas and charcoal combo grill. Grilling is almost a competitive sport in my family. It becomes a match between two brothers and one sister claiming they grill the best ribs, chicken, hamburgers and whatever else happens to be the meat of choice during family events. You just learn to nod and tell them each they’re the best.

Luckily in real life everyone is spared me at the grill and any type of disaster like charred meat, but here in Second Life I get to show off my grilling skills with this new Lakeside family BBQ set released from Heart Homes/Aphrodite Shop. It is nearly 100% mesh and comes loaded with animations and props for solo, couples and also animations to use with kids. It has so many features to it. The ease to it is amazing, from just clicking the grill to start the barbecue and choosing the meal and let it cook. Once it is done, it will tell you and then all you have to do is click the place mat to rez a platter with the food you just cooked. Pretty easy!

Once you’ve enjoyed the fine meal you’ve cooked up there are dishes to be washed by hand or if you prefer just stack the dishwasher. The set comes with a few props like a bread board, vegetable board and drinks cooler that are quite detailed and realistic. If you like to entertain with family or friends this is the perfect setup for you.

Disco Fever…

I grew up in the disco era even though I probably have more affinity with music from the 80s as I was into my teens then. Some of the songs from the late 70s that I remember listening to were YMCA, Funky Town, Stayin’ Alive, I will survive, The Hustle and Get Down Tonight and many more. Songs that when I hear today still bring a smile and get me to tapping or moving my body to the rhythm.

[Circa] has brought many wonderful fun memories back with this fun “Disco Tech” set and accompanying accessories. The bar room set includes the bar with standing animations, the stools that also have animations for both male and female and pendant light, palm tree planters and display props.

There are two sets of dance floors, the Sunset Drive or the Rainbow. To complete your set there are the hanging albums for decor that spin and the “Groovy Glam” portal wall seats that have 18 lounging animations and a choice of six colors at the touch of the menu.

You can find all these items at the latest event called the Rhapsody, which is based on all kinds of music with the current chosen theme being Disco and runs through July 12th.

Disco Fever Dance Animation

Aphrodite Shops has newly released some luxury coffee machines that are fully animated. You have a choice of a gold or silver version and each one has a brewing animation with the serving of 12 different coffees. The machine dispenses the gourmet coffee by just touching the red button and you can see it pouring into the cup once you make your selection of coffee and sends it to you. Each set also comes with a dozen of cups on a plate with a spoon as a decorative item.

I’m not a coffee drinker in real life, though I do own a similar stainless steel coffee maker like this one. It’s a gorgeous display item for your home or if you own a business as well. I did a little twist with my picture below – because sometimes you just need to have two. 🙂

Anyone for brunch?

Aphrodite continues to amaze me with the quality and realistic table settings they release. As I was taking pictures I was reminded that tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Perhaps it was because how intimate this set looks and it would be the perfect setting that I would want to enjoy with my mom.

The set comes with mesh chairs that have ten sit animations for males, females and also animations for drinking tea, eating soup and brunch. The chairs give props with the automated system. The table setting is as shown, which is absolutely lovely in my opinion. You also get two potted flowers for decor.

Lesson 48

I have a picture of me around seven years old wearing a Betty Boop long sleeve shirt. That when I found myself in this shop the other day checking out their merchandise after seeing a very colorful top on someone I saw these dresses with the character. After a few minutes of reminiscing I couldn’t resist buying one. It has wording in the front and in the back that speaks to the emotions we can develop for people that go beyond distance.

The lesson this week speaks of love and found the dress to be perfect to convey a message of love.

Lesson 48: Lavish Love

The fastest way I know to amplify the amount of love in our hearts is to share that love with someone else. Love is contagious – the more you give, the more you get. And of course, when we lavish love upon others, we also lavish it upon ourselves.

Just imagine how you’d feel if you shared a degree of love with someone in your life that they’ve never felt from you before. What if you did something for them that was unexpected, unimaginable, and completely over the top? What effect do you think this gift would have on you? If you’re thinking it would fill you with love, you’re probably right.

This is the week to lavish love upon people you care about. Notice how much happier you feel when you share your heart with another.

Your Self-Love Assignment

Think of one special person in your life to lavish love upon this week. On a beautiful piece of stationery or in a journal, write a list of the 50 things you love most about this person and present it to him or her as your gift.

You can also go for extra credit by e-mailing a similar list to other people in your life whom you want to acknowledge: your parents, your spouse, your kids, your friends, your boss, or your co-workers. With every person you touch, you become part of a worldwide circle of love that keeps expanding.

If each of us gave this gift to give or ten people this week, think about how much love we’d send into the world!

I am showing off more goodies that Aphrodite Shops has released to make your celebration of St. Patrick’s Day a happy and fun one. The couple pose sets are fun and cute to use — I am displaying two here in these pictures.

The first set comes with various signs and as you change positions from the four available it sends you the sign for that particular pose. Very easy enough pose set to understand. That’s only if you don’t have your head in la la land. It took me a few minutes to realize that the signs were numbered to each pose. The other set is the pot of gold pose set that has three playful positions. I’m only showing two.

If you’re looking for an intimate setting you can’t go wrong with this party set that consists of this shamrock table and chairs and yummy food that dispenses on contact and also dispenses drinks. Included is the candles and balloons that add a festive and romantic touch to the occasion.
