Every time that I do one of Strawberry’s memes it almost feels like I’m in front of the camera, which explains the picture that I decided to use for this post. However, doing the memes are fun, because you get to know a little more about people that are in Second Life.
The segment of my little show is “Blogging? Is it pure vanity?”

Meme instructions: Copy and paste the following questions and answers to your post, delete my answers and input your own. Try not to swear at Berry in your head for having so many questions this week and don’t forget to leave a comment in this meme’s post so others can come by and read your answers as well!
- How long have you been blogging? Since about 2011 for only a few months, then I removed that blog due to not being able to fully commit and recently began blogging about my Second Life in March 2013.
- Why did you start blogging? I’ve always enjoyed writing and I felt blogging was a way to explore that interest and blogging on Second Life seemed a good start. I used to journal a lot before, but I haven’t in the last two years. So this is also like an extension of that even if it isn’t about my real life it still serves as being therapeutic.
- How many times a week do you post an entry? While I am posting just about daily now, I know that with my schedule it won’t always be possible. Therefore, I’m trying not to be such a perfectionist from the start and so if I skip a day it’s no big deal.
- How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? Quite a bit and they range across the board from politics to cooking. The Second Life blogs I look at tend to be more fashion oriented as I’ve yet to find good blogs where more than credits are provided. If anyone knows of any, please send my way.
- Do you comment on other people’s blogs? On a few occasions I have and as I get more familiar with blogging I will probably will do more.
- Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? Not really. I have looked at the site stats as I was browsing the dashboard, though I have not taken the time to learn how to utilize the tools to track visitors. I also don’t want to get hung up on those things as this blog is really more for my own amusement than anything else, though it is nice when I get a like or a comment for a post.
- Did you ever regret a post that you wrote? None that I’ve done so far and most of my writing content would be non-controversial and would simply be my thoughts of the day or my thoughts in general. I am also very cautious by nature and that will ensure that I don’t cross the line.
- Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? I think to a certain extent as I continue to write that people would gather an idea of who I am as a person. Maybe. I do think part of your personality comes through in your writing — at least you get the idea of the person’s wit and whether they are positive or negative, etc.
- Do you blog under your real name? No, I am using my second life name.
- Are there topics that you would never blog about? Absolutely. I don’t have any set rules that I developed other than mainly knowing there would be certain topics I would stay away from.
- What is the theme/topic of your blog? It’s basically about my Second Life, though will quite often be infused with a bit of realism. The blog is basically a vehicle being used to explore my love of writing and sharing my photography — throwing in a bit of wisdom along the way from my life experiences and a bit of humor mixed in there too. Though I really will focus on it being totally about my Second Life – my fashion style, decor style, places I explore, the fabulous toys I buy (not to be confused with adult toys) and pixelated food of course.
- Do you have more than one blog? If so, why? I have another private blog that I created to journal a trip to Europe I made last year that has pictures and the timeline of my trip. I plan to use it as I travel more in the future. I have thoughts of creating another to display some of my real life photography of wildlife I’ve taken over the last couple of years.
- What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? It’s too soon to really answer this question; though I find that there is simple joy in doing each blog post. I hope that it also serves the purpose of improving my creative writing. To understand this I need to share that I do a lot of dry writing in my professional life — like writing policies, grants, press releases, etc., so I feel like I’ve lost the edge in writing creatively.
- So, why do you continue to blog? I find blogging to be relaxing and entertaining. It also gives my Second Life a bit of boost.
