It’s that time of year for sure where you see pumpkins galore in real and virtually here in Second Life.  If you missed out on this past week’s Fifty Linden Friday, then you missed these great baskets of pumpkin by Hive. Though you’ll be able to find them at the main store and really make for some nice decor for this season.

I’m also showcasing items from the month’s subscription box to Deco(c)rate. If you’re not familiar with this decor subscription, then I invite you to visit their website for more information and also how to find out where to purchase the mystery box. I” give you the short version that it’s a monthly mystery box filled with original mesh home and garden decor.  You get a about 15 different items from some of the best known designers.

This month’s theme is Harvest Moon and Convair is participating with the Berkshire Barn. The barn has weathered and worn wood detail with tall rafters. It’s original design and mesh, with scripted doors and access control. It has a land impact of 136, and is scaleable, but you run the risk of a higher impact.

Serenity Style is another participant this month with the Raven Dream in the Porch Bench with pumpkin decor box and flying leaves. The land impact is 1 for the leaves – 5 for pumpkin decor and 7 for bench.

I wasn’t anticipating being in the picture, but when I had my camera set and I was standing just in the middle I sat down on the bench and I ended up changing the angle slightly.  This also allowed me to feature the boots by Mosquito’s Way, which are available at The Liaison Collaborative.

This luxurious home is a new release called “The Naples” by Galland Homes. This Mediterranean beauty has a land impact of 227 if you use the ultimate version with the mesh clay roof or you can choose the standard 183 land impact version with a flat plane roof.

I will let the pictures do the talking, but warn you that you will need at least a 4096 space to put this home on.  This home is very typical to the homes you will find in some of the more luxurious neighborhoods in the gulf, southwest and eastern parts of Florida that I opted to decor the outside with that in mind.  picmonkey-collage

A day out in the country

Today I am featuring the upcoming new release by JIAN of their lively labs that will be at the upcoming September round of The Arcade.  These are just a few of the dogs in the collection… the animated ones and if you think these are cute wait until you see the static decor ones.

The complete collection consists of 19 dogs, 16 commons and 3 rares with 1 reward to collect after you play their machine 25 times.  There are 4 rezzed wandering pups, 4 worn companion pups, 4 held ones and 4 static decor pups. Then there is 3 animated adult labs that are rare.  The decor pups are not shown in this post, but I can tell you as mentioned above they are cute and just adorable.  The colors of the dogs are white, chocolate, black and golden, which I’ve made sure to feature one of each color in this post.

Besides the static ones all the animals have unique little things they do. For instance the adult animated worn companions are idle, walk, runs, chases its tail, pants, barks and digs in the dirt as shown here. I really loved seeing this as it just brought it to life for me.  To give you another idea the small companion pups are idle, walk, run, pant and bark as well as yawn and scratch its ears as they walk with your avatar.

I can’t wait to show you the rest soon!

Trusting the magic of change and new beginnings

I was going to wait and post this picture until after Thanksgiving, but this morning I woke up and my room was quite chilly.  I’m used to warm weather during this time of year so it’s a bit of a shock to the system to feel the chill in the air.  This means I’ll be trading in my flimsy thin nightwear for those plaid flannel pajamas very soon along with warm fuzzy socks.

Moving further up the state has been a bit of a culture shock as well and something that I am not adjusting to too well.  While a lovely scenic city with a lot of lushness greenery and some massive oak trees and bald cypress with Spanish moss it still feels a bit antiquated.

Change is hard and it’s something that I’m experiencing at a faster rate these days in just about every area of my life.  Some changes are not very pleasant as I just learned this past week, though I know overcoming these periods makes you stronger. Improvement can’t happen without change and so embracing it means you learn and grow as you turn the directional path from the one you’re used to.  It brings new beginnings as you turn the page and strengthens you for the next chapter in your life.

I put together the following scene just for fun using some more Christmas decor by Shutter Field and the newest trees by Little Branch, so check out the details below.

I think it just might be symbolic of changing the landscape from one season to another.

The neighborhood is back in action with some more home and garden stuff for you.   Jian has made a new gazebo that compliments two of its previously released sets with the same name.  The Beaumont gazebo has six texture options for both the structure and the roof.  It comes ready with single sitting animations and five couple cuddle animations.  For this weekend only you can purchase it for only 150 lindens, otherwise, after the weekend it will increase in price.   One of the previous sets is the Beaumont brick fence set pictured here that comes with texture change options for all the fence pieces.  The other set is the brick path that I previously blogged.

I’m always on the search for a good windlight as lighting is not my forte, so I was excited when the owner of Olive recently shared her collection of windlights that she has made over the last few years.  I am using the blue haze one, though modded it to make it lighter without completely losing the blue haze.  I just wanted to make sure that you could still see the quality of the texture of the gazebo and fence.

If you want a little more color in your gardens, these field of poppies by Little Branch come in several colors and are available right now at the LTD Event.  They come in two versions, the square field or rounded field and really make a nice addition to any landscape.

It’s been a long time since I have done a full hunt.  As it is my inventory really needs a major overhaul and one day I am determined to do something about it.  Right now I’m blissfully happy using what I can find in my somewhat organized folders when I search for what I need.  What I found that I liked in doing hunts is that it gave me an opportunity to discover stores I didn’t know.  With the number of events going each month it’s a wonder if anyone finds time to visit a main store anymore.

Getting back to hunts.  I noticed that Menstuff was having a hunt for men and given that I already shop for myself and lil me adding a third party to that equation would be excessive not to mention an expense I really can’t justify even to myself.  Given he only gets used sparingly when I want to have a male presence in my pictures.  Though given the way my computer groans when I am using two viewers it’s becoming less and less of a desire.  I did find with this last round of pictures that using the CtrlAltStudio viewer with very low settings and the regular viewer I use, Firestorm, it was a bit more manageable.  I’m straying again.  My mind seems to be all over the place lately.   I’ll just add this.  The Menstuff Hunt is a great hunt for men with about 100 stores.  I figured that my male alt could use a few new outfits so that he is picture ready for when I need him. The best part for you men is that each item will only cost you at the minimum 1L.

Just a suggestion.

That’s also the name of the pose that I am using on my main avatar.  It’s made by Kuro in Motion and can be found at the main store.   I teamed it up with this other pose to give him a little push to go.

Looking beyond what was in front.

I didn’t feel that I gave these olive trees a proper showing the other day with the picture I took being misty and foggy that it hid the texture and look of the trees.  Plus I wanted to show the other version of the tree that includes the hanging leave wreaths.

I’m in one of these fussy periods that I can’t seem to settle on anything that I put together.  That kind of moment when everything you try on just isn’t right or you decorate a whole room and then don’t like it and you tear it all down. It was that feeling of restlessness that lead me to do something differently when I was in-world last night.  Instead of the usual organizing some picture for a future blog post I hit the music scene on the grid.  I am not sure if that made the mood even worse.

How oddly it felt to be surrounded by other people and feeling almost like I didn’t belong in that scene.  You may wonder what about when I shop at events.  I confess to taking advantage of that trick of derender everyone on radar so that I can move around a bit easier.  I’m prone to get into my invisible alpha and then cam once I figure out the layout.   I hopped around a bit trying to find music that would entice me enough to stay, but after not finding much comfort there I ended up logging and going to bed.   It’s made me reflect how out of touch it felt and whether I have isolated myself so much with just doing nothing other than blogging and having the occasional odd chats here and there with my SL family that going out to socialize now feels odd.  I’m hoping it’s just a passing moment caused by the stress factors outside of this platform.
