Sometimes I wish for a simple life of living out in the country and having nothing to worry about other than a few farm animals.   I would go around in a dress like this, which is available at this round of Shiny Shabby. It was hard picking from the selection of colors available as I liked every one of them.

Shutter Field had a great selection of chairs available this past Lazy Sunday like these dark wood peacock chairs that have some nice sit animations for male and female.  I look forward to showing you some more home and garden items from this creator in the near future.

The years gone by 001-1

Sometimes I long for what is familiar.  I remember visiting my paternal grandmother’s wooden frame home back when I was a child.  They lived in a small town in Washington state, a population that at the 2010 census was just under 11,000.  My grandmother was one of those stern, independent maternal types, who was also a bit of a hell raiser too.  She loved antiques and her home was filled in every corner with furniture and decorative pieces that sat atop these lace dollies.   I remember antique curios full of china, colorful glass ornaments and vases and everything of value to her.  It wasn’t a big house by today’s standards, but it was big in my eyes then and it had character.   One of the fondest memories that me and my older siblings have is that she always sent us care packages full of clothes and toys and when she visited she always came calling with these big old trunks full of gifts.  My dad was sort of her favorite and well we got the benefits of that favoritism.

She’s been long gone.  The last time I visited that area and her original home was some eight years ago while on a business trip to Seattle and I took a few extra days to visit with family.  My aunt now lives in that home and while her taste in decor isn’t of the same caliber or charm.. it still held the that old familiar smell of years gone by.

Mesh Body 001

I mentioned yesterday that if there is something I really like and want that I will spend the lindens for it.  Though in most cases I might give it some thought before succumbing to that little voice that whispers in my ear get it now.  Though with so many events and creators producing new releases at a record speed not to mention the quality of mesh being even better these days, lets face it we’re spoiled for choice if not lindens.  I am sort of laughing as I think about gachas and I should have put a disclaimer that this does not apply to those gawd awful machines, especially the ones that don’t want to cooperate with you for that item you want.  If you get down to adding the cost for all those pulls on the machine… we pay a small fortune for an item we might not have otherwise spent full price on it at the store. Guilty.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve also noticed that the price of stuff in Second Life has slowly been creeping up.  No, I’m not about to go on a rant about this subject.  I think the choice of what we buy and are willing to pay for items is a personal choice.  It’s just an observation and it came to mind as I sat here writing this and thought of my waffling back and forth on purchasing a mesh body.

Given that 50% of the time when I am out shopping or anywhere on the grid I see all these mesh body parts all over the place it’s not the best incentive for me to want to have one.  I realize that’s probably due to my internet speed more than anything and the rest of you don’t see the same.  As for pros and cons there wasn’t much of an imbalance for me.  The creator of my signature skin hasn’t released an applier for it, though it’s in the works to be released soon.  It basically just boiled down to whether I wanted to fork over the lindens.   Then recalling that I had not properly spent the lindens that a friend gave me for Christmas and knowing his inclination of always improving yourself.  It was an easy decision to splurge using his gift of lindens to better myself.

Neither is flirting and trying to hook up with total strangers over an app game.  Some days ago I mentioned that during one of my sleepless nights I found myself playing a game of words with total strangers, two in fact a male and a female.  Since that night the challenges have continued on and off as time permits.  I’ve won some and lost some and it keeps my brain active.

In the game “Words with Friends” there is an option for chat and can only be used if you’re in an active game.  Up until then no communication had occurred until this weekend the guy initiates a chat by messaging me that my next move better be a good one just before hitting me with a word that racked up his points.  This was all good until he starts to get a little more friendlier.

I’ll spare the details of the come on as it’s rather lame even to my own ears, especially when they have absolutely no knowledge if I’m married, single or whatever.  Politely I declined his offer quit the game and refused another challenge.

Maybe this is normal in this day and age?

Skybox Living

The Den Skybox

Showing the newest home by The [Den.] that is available at the current round of the Cosmopolitan Room.   The Historic Skybox is full mesh that has a long wide open living space that  has enough room to use for a living room and a kitchen if you so desire.  The skybox also has two additional rooms and comes in two versions.  One version comes with a room that has a marble floor in the event that you want to make the room a bathroom and the second version comes with the wood floor if you just seek to make it another room like an office or bedroom.

I really like the tall windows that come with the skybox, so it allows for a view if you want to place it inside a dome or just leave it open and decorate it as I did with shrubs and grass.  The size is 12x15x5 with a land impact of 41, it is mod and copy.

Lovers Playground Bathroom

There is a new home and garden event called the “Perfect 10” that will run from the 1st of the month to the 15th.   This event while new actually replaces the previous Designer Warehouse, that will have exclusive home and garden items at half or discounted price during the event.  There will be some gachas as well.

I am showing a complete bath set created by Lovers Playground.  Everything in the picture is included as part of the set minus the curtains and the flowers on the vanity.  Most of the items are animated for your interactive experience.   I got a chuckle out of the animations on the weight scale.

Baking Sale

I survived the birthday party yesterday, well at least 2.5 hours of it.  Thankfully, it was held outdoors even if it meant bearing the cold wind.  I was wearing my leather jacket that rarely gets used so that kept me somewhat comfy.   Instead of what I would call more substance they had an assortment of crackers, hams, fruits and cheese to eat and one of my favorite wines moscato.  Just for that you could say it wasn’t so bad after all.  There was no traditional birthday cake.   In it’s place was this huge cookie cake that seems to be more popular these days that had gobs of chocolate chips in it. I took a sliver of it just to taste.

Now here I am baking up a storm in Second Life.  Shhh… I really got them yesterday at the pre-tasting of the Atelier Kreslo’s Farewell Bake Sale that opened today.   I am only showing a few of the goodies you can find at the bake sale.  While these cakes look absolutely yummy, personally I am more likely to take a serving or two of the creme brulee.

Black and White

I was standing next to the dog on a stand going through poses when I came to this one and chuckled that it looked like I was scolding the dog and decided to shoot the picture like this.  I mentioned yesterday that I had fixed my problem with shadows and if you look at the wall you can see the shadow of the window.  That’s the result of using advanced lighting and a favorable wind light.   I added a burst of light to come through the window with Pic Monkey and decided to go with a black and white for my final outcome.

Even though I don’t crash anymore, enabling the advanced lighting feature does seem to slow me down considerably.  I’ll have to continue to play with it some more, though for now I like having the ability to use shadows.
