Happy Saturday afternoon!! I’m starting off my weekend with a headache, which is not a fun way to begin though I’m hoping by the next few hours it’s all gone. Today’s post is a collaboration with friend and fellow blogger Lotus Mastroianni. I give her all the credit for building the set even arranging all the items that I put down for us to use.

It’s all about summer in this post starting with this adorable short hair style by Iconic called Mae, which is a new release at Hair Fair. I grew up with a short hair style practically until I was 20 and then I started to let it grow out so I sort of have a soft spot for short hairs. I’ll be showing you some more great hair styles by Iconic at the Hair Fair in some of my upcoming posts.

The clothes I’m wearing is by Justice and it’s from their Liv gacha outfit at the newest summer round of The Gacha Guardians. The bubble gum scoops ice cream that I’m enjoying is by RazzBerry Inc., also at gacha event. My cute summery shoes are by Empire and these come in the various sizes to fit most mesh feet, but what I love is that they come also in toddleedoo sizes and are available at the Toddleedoo Fair.

The decor I’m showcasing is by Velvet Whip, which is part of their pool party gacha at The Gacha Guardians. The key to the set can be viewed here, with the cocktails tray of two drinks being the gift of the guardians. Sometimes all you need is a little splash of color

I’ve had computer issues all day and still trying to resolve it. I was one step close to throwing a major hissy fit and throwing the thing out the window if not for the calming effect of a friend, who provided compassion, guidance and sound judgment when mine went out the door.

As a result, my post will not be very long, but I did want to get this out today to show the latest home decor offerings by a couple of creators. The retro living room set is by unKindness and is currently available at the Cosmopolitan Event that runs bi-weekly. Each of the pieces are sold separately or you can grab them all at a discount buy purchasing them as a set. You will find animations for male, female and couples.

Next, are the mermaid canvas paintings on the wall and the ones leaning against the window by Jian. These paintings are texture change by the touch of a menu giving you several choices of art to choose from to fit your decor and style. I went with this particular art as the colors blended well with the retro set and I was wanting to show these items as soon as possible and took advantage of showing them together. With a vengeance.

I’m thinking of my feisty 81 year old grandmother who killed a 4 foot snake in the garage with the end of a bat the other day when I wrote my title for this blog post. She’s formidable and I hope that if I get to reach her age in this life time that I am just as gutsy as she is. She did the dirty deed and I got to do clean up, picking up the still slithering snake and dump it into the lake behind the house. You could say that’s one of the disadvantages of living in Florida and near water. Not to mention impatient women who will take matters into their own hands when it comes to protecting their own.

I was contemplating earlier whether I missed blogging or not and it was sort of in the middle. When I think back on why I originally started to blog over a year ago it was just to use it as a vehicle to take up my interest in writing and also document my time in Second Life. It was a novel idea, with no forethought as to what I would share — given that I rarely did much more than hang out at music venues and decorated a new house every few weeks with the occasional hanging out with a few friends.

Today, my inner circle of friends can be practically counted in one hand and honestly I prefer it this way. Gone are the days of listening to music and actively exploring in Second Life. It’s a toss up if those things would hold my interest again for long and yet they can be dumped into the cyclical category. Though stepping away from SL even if just a few days both physically and mentally has helped me tremendously regain some perspective and given me the motivation to move forward once again.

With that said I’m showcasing here some stuff from the current round of events that are happening on the grid. I’ve become quite a fanatic of these fantasy role-play outfits that perhaps I should consider taking up some kind of role-play.

Lesson 52

This is the last lesson in the 52 weeks course of “The Best Year of Your Life” and I want to thank everyone who shared the lessons with me. I hoped they served to be useful, encouraging and guided you in areas you might have been needing guidance on. For me personally, they have been timely messages I needed to hear and others served as reminders for things I had forgotten as life happens.

The last lesson deals with going back to the basics and for me sometimes it’s a reminder to honor that inner child in me.

Lesson 52: Go Back to the Basics

I trained in martial arts for three years, and one thing I was continually struck by is how much time we spent in each class focusing on the basics. “Without mastering the basics,” my instructor would say, “you can never move on to more advanced techniques.”

How do you create the best year of your life? Pay attention to the basics. Have compassion for yourself. Take time to go within. Set measurable goals. Do what you say you’re going to do. Appreciate what you have.

Take this week to focus on the basics. Strive to make each of these practices a regular part of your lifestyle, and the best year of your life will unfold naturally.

Your Self-Love Assignment

It’s time for a refresher course on the skills you’ve learned so far during this course. Look back over the past few weeks and note the following:

Are you compassionate with yourself, even when you make mistakes?
Have you broken agreements with yourself or others that you need to clean up?
Have you set goals or committed to action steps that you haven’t fulfilled?
Are you nourishing your physical body with proper food, rest, and exercise?
Are you taking time each day to go within?

Make a list of any of the basic skills you’ve been neglecting. Then create a plan of action to reintroduce them back into your daily schedule.

Right at Home…

That quote made me have a good chuckle. No mistake here. I’m in the right house — this is my current accommodations.

I really love my cozy kitchen. It took modifying some of the items and making them smaller to fit in the space, but overall I really liked the way it came out.

Lesson 41

I couldn’t help and use this quote, because it perfectly fits these pictures of goofing off while in the office and by rights, totally wrong if it’s against office policy. Perhaps your experience is different to mine. I don’t know of too many companies that allow you to take the phone off the hook, sit back and recline to watch a movie on the computer and my favorite of all… to have a buttocks planter?

I wouldn’t advice anyone to indulge in the activities above — unless you want to take a forced week off. Smiles.

Congratulations! Your assignment this week is to take a week off. Simply acknowledge all the great work you’ve done so far and luxuriate in your free time. Have fun!

Bask in What You’ve Accomplished! This is a week to bask in the glory of what you’ve already accomplished. If you encounter any resistance to giving yourself time off, breathe in, and remind yourself that you deserve it!
