I’m stealing the line… “Oh the things we do for family” from a fellow blogger. I ran around a few grocery stores this morning just to find a particular brand of peppered bacon for my sister. My suggestion of just buy any regular brand of bacon and slap it with a load of pepper and you get the same thing quite wasn’t good enough. It’s like you’re only feeding the family and we’ll understand if the recipe didn’t come out exactly perfect. We’ll only tease you from here on out at every family function. You can see why I shy away from the kitchen.
Now a little Second Life. As you all know I love creating fantasy outfits and with so many new inspiring items it’s hard not to want to create something fun and totally not of this century. I plan on continuing to do this, except under a new blog created specifically for this purpose. Every now and then I have felt my fantasy and/or role-play posts clashed a little with my mainstream posts of fashion and home and garden decor as well with the family oriented pictures with little me. My biggest hesitation was the impact of having two blogs and what it would mean time wise and the additional work if any.
My experience with blogging so far has been very rewarding on a personal level and for the most part stress free. While I don’t know how long this journey will last, in the mean time I plan to just enjoy it if lasts only a week longer, a month or a year. Not only has experience shown me, but the last few months have too that sometimes things can rapidly change. I’m still working on fixing up the layout as I remember how to do all those widgets once again, but slowly getting there.

Today I’m doing double duty and doing yesterday’s letter and today’s as I just didn’t have time to get around to doing a blog post. I am wearing a jacket from a store called FA Creations (letter F) and I teamed it up with these leather pants that come with a bullet belt. Yep, I’m being a little dangerous today. This outfit just called for a gun (letter G) and Finesmith gave me that with this gun necklace. All I needed was a pair of handcuffs and so when I put that into my inventory I found this necklace by Maxi Gossamer.
I’ve already found the bad guy. He’s so bad.. that he’s sooooooo good. 😀

I used to love visiting small bookstores that were cozy, intimate and with an atmosphere of being somewhat quaint. You could say it was something I indulged in frequently, because it was a place that I found tremendously relaxing and could spend hours just reading in a softly lit corner somewhere. Unfortunately, it is hard to find any of these types of bookstores around anymore. At least not where I live. The only time I get to indulge in a setting like this is when I go visit a friend of mine that lives in one of the Carolina states. She has a small sun room that has bookshelves built in and large windows. I just love sitting there with the sun streaming in and reading a book.
I think her sun room is calling my name.

Lesson 40: Indulge
What are some ways to really indulge? How about languishing extra long in bed on a rainy Sunday morning; skipping the nonfat, no-carb cookie and treating yourself to a hot fudge sundae; buying yourself flowers and sprinkling some of the petals on your bed and pillow; bringing your favorite novel and a cool drink with you into the bathtub so you can luxuriate in the soothing water; getting lost for hours window-shopping or browsing through a bookstore; and planning a day that’s all about you.
These are examples of healthy indulgence. Discipline and structure are essential components for creating the best year of your life, but they need to be balanced with moments of luxury. This is your week to indulge!
Your Self-Love Assignment
Imagine that your favorite person in the whole world is coming to visit you this week. This person has been working hard and is looking forward to some serious relaxation time. Imagine that the two of you have the same tastes, and it’s your job to plan at least three things you can do to ensure that your friend gets the most out of your time together. Write down three indulgent activities that you would like to share with your friend.
Now read over your list, because this is your self-love assignment for the week. Choose at least two of these activities and indulge yourself!

Lesson 38: Play!
Remember “recess” and “play dates’ when you were a kid? As children, we recognize the value of letting everything go and simply enjoying ourselves. But too often, by the time we hit adulthood, our work-to-play ratio is completely out of balance.
Playing is essential. Not only is it fun, but it also renews and refreshes us, helping us better focus on the more serious aspects of our lives.
Your assignment this week is to play. And if you’re one of those people who grudgingly participates in leisure activities and then spends the whole time thinking about what you “should” be doing, I invite you to engage your whole body, mind, and spirit in the playful activity you choose.
Your Self-Love Assignment
You are hereby ordered to schedule an activity that has no usefulness other than its enjoyment to you. Go bowling with friends, or perhaps get some art supplies and spend an afternoon expressing your creative side.
Playing could also mean picking up a hobby you gave up in honor of being productive in the world. Is there an old instrument somewhere on the shelf of your garage? When’s the last time you rode a bicycle, played jump rope or hopscotch, or put on your favorite music and sang out loud? This is the week to let your playful side out. Notice how your fun-loving attitude translates into other aspects of your life.

Sometimes you make the perfect plans for something, and hope that everything goes well and then nothing goes the way you expect. That’s been my afternoon and so what do you do? Improvise.
This would be the equivalent of my date not showing up after I went to all the trouble of preparing a “heart”y meal of pizza and icing the beer for him and the double chocolate ones for me.
Aphrodite Shops has been one of my favorite groups for a while now and I’m now honored to be blogging their items. I’m not disappointed with these heart shape place mats that rezz a feast if you’re looking for something sweet and enjoyable to share with your loved one on Valentines Day.
I could have gone for a much more fancier meal, which are included in the place mat. Though you can’t go wrong with pizza and beer either. I settled down to watch a movie all the while talking on the phone enjoying the red bouquet of roses with the delectable chocolates and cookies from this gift tray, other wonderful Valentine treats from Aphrodite. Watching this cutie pie in this movie more than made up for all the issues I had today.

A friend of mine is participating in this current round of the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) Artists-in-Resident Land Grants program. The following description was taken from the LEA blog, which you can visit for more information.
“The LEA Land Grant program seeks to promote and nurture the arts in Second Life, through a five-month land grant to recipients. Recipients can be individuals or groups interested in creating or curating art, or proposing cultural projects which would require/utilise a full-sim build and can be completed within the allotted time frame. The LEA is able to offer land grants through the generosity of Linden Lab.”
I could not even begin to describe this Australian friend of mine as he is quite a mixture of many things combined — 99 % all good. His land is called Devil’s Island, so I think he deserves that 1% bad. Chuckles. Since I have known him I have always admired his artistic side and his passion and tenacity for building and scripting. I am extremely glad to see him finally taking more of a plunge to share his art with the Second Life community.
Many of his recent and some of his past works can be seen at LEA and the art sculpture below is a gift that you can locate during the visit.

While I am prone to headaches and on those rare occasions get some headaches that turn into migraines I typically never have them last more than a day or get them every other day as the case has been here lately.
Not the best way to enjoy the holiday season and I’ve had to miss a couple of holiday parties as a result, since the effects for me after a migraine is feeling tired and disoriented.
In any case I am thankful for the things I do have even in the midst of this mild distraction, like my family and friends and the time to gather and create memories. It is those moments that we renew our love for one another and share our faith, joy and hope for each other.
I hope that you are experiencing something similar during the Christmas holiday.
