I'll take one of those

Just one.  I rarely drink anymore at social events because sometimes all it takes is one glass of wine and I start to feel all warm and fuzzy.  I’m quite an innocent babe when it comes to drinking and smoking.  I have never drank a full beer.  In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever tried to taste another beer since that one partial taste that was bad enough.  I like white wine more so than red and tend to go for fruity ones.  I’m an amaretto/7 girl when it comes to anything more beyond wine.  I might take a taste of something stronger at say a family gathering, but that’s the extent.  Liquor and me just don’t jive.  If rolling a piece of paper sack as a cigarette counts as smoking.. then I had my first smoke when I was ten years of age and was being all cool with some neighborhood friends.  It must have cured me as I’ve never been inclined to take another try of the real thing.  The aura of cigarette smoke is just not very appealing to some of us.. a gentle nudge nudge.

I finally finished decorating my new home, which is a small cottage that is all open space.   Something different and can be a bit of a challenge to decorate when you have no separation of rooms.   It’s also the first time that I have a home without a bathroom.  I’m tempted to put an outhouse in the back and a small outdoor shower.  I’m odd in this way, that I feel a bit unsettled without those amenities.  I know.  Just call it my own peculiarity.   This time around my decor is shabby chic intermixed with Christmas decor in the typical season of living in Florida — all green no snow.   Maybe I’ll get to taking pictures soon to show it.

I’ve been playing around a bit with Photoshop here and there.  It’s not an easy program to learn though I’ll wager and say my tolerance level may be dictating here.  I want it now, not later.  Just blame it on the traits of an Aries personality.  Ignores the little part that says we’re selfish.  Here I was playing with a lens flare and tried to soften up the picture playing with the sliders on the curve… so far I can handle this.

Just a quick snapshot and now I’m off to a birthday party that will be full of kids and the grownup kind too.

I’m showing another pair of shoes that will be available on November 21st for the 21Shoe event that runs for 24 hours only.  These adorable hounds-tooth Saddle Jane flats from Sax Shepherd Designs are perfect for taking a stroll through the shopping district and residential parts of Second Life.  I didn’t have to fight lag or see giant size mesh clothing floating all around me while I walked to find a spot to take a snapshot.  I must admit that I liked that experience and will be doing this a little more often for something different than setting up my own scene.  The sim was practically deserted and it’s a shame, but with so many events that run throughout the month it’s so easy for some of these wonderfully created locations to take a back seat.  That’s another great thing about 21Shoe is that all shoes can be found at the individual stores.

Not pictured is the other shoe that is part of the two-for-one deal, which are the button mules that also come in the same hounds-tooth fabric.  You will get two colors with each set — a white/black and red/black in each shoe style and all for a really great price of $299L and never to be sold again.  The waist cincher that matches the shoes will be offered as an add-on the same day also for a very good price.

I ran across the quote above and thought of how true that statement is.  This week has so far turned into one of the far worse I have felt in a long time.  The kind that leaves you feeling like you’re almost fighting a lost cause or that you can’t even rationalize on an issue any longer.  I don’t like reaching this point.  It has somewhat of a defeatist attitude in my personal opinion and I’m not one to quit easily when the going gets tough.

Though I’ve been pushed to the limit on several occasions this week and I’m not proud of having fallen to the lowest depths of self-destructive behavior that I found myself feeling cross at myself, ashamed and uncomfortable with.  While stubborn pride says I was justified in my actions.   I’m really not.   Even righteous anger when you feel that you’ve been wronged and pushed to the edge doesn’t even excuse me.  I am reminded of Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”   It’s the same concept when someone offends you with either words and actions.  I allowed myself to accept it and respond in kind and for that and more I feel remorseful.

Despite the hardships of this week I’m pretty upbeat today and generally feel que sera, sera (what will be, will be).

I had a particularly rough day that I needed to distract myself with something lighthearted and fun.   Bringing out my child alt gives me that in an odd way, not only the silliness of being in a small body, but she makes me laugh at myself as I’ve mentioned before and that’s enough to lighten the load somehow.

Nothing much then a simple picture of walking through the grass at home and on that note we’re calling it a day in both worlds.

What’s love got ….

When I rezzed this love box sign last night for this scene it made me think of Tina Turner’s song, “What’s love got to do with it” and it’s still playing in my head this morning.  It made me feel like dancing and so I’ve parked myself on a dance floor at a long ago visited club listening to the rhythm and soul tunes the DJ is spinning as I write this post.  Just what the doctor ordered.

Being a part of the Fantasy Collective group I got early access last night so I took a quick look and came away with this outfit that I’m wearing from Yasum.  The Fantasy Collective opens tomorrow and my sneak peak showed that there will be a lot of great stuff as usual.   I am sporting a tattoo from “La Malvada Mujer,” which translates to the evil or wicked woman, that is available at the Victims of Ink event.  It fits the mood.

I’m excited today.  This morning one of my real life friends that I’ve known for many years sent me an email that he had joined Second Life.   He’s always known I inhabit this world and from time to time will ask me about it, though has always resisted joining.  I don’t blame him.  It will be kind of a new experience to catch up with each other from time to time in-world with avatars being that I’m in America and he’s in Europe.

Balance.

I work in a community that has a diverse population of different nationalities, cultures and ways of living.  There is a long stretch of sidewalk that borders the state road that I travel in and out of work that goes from my office back into town. I was on my way out to meet a friend for lunch when I spotted this Haitian Creole woman walking towards the same direction I was heading with a steady pace.   This isn’t unusual, though what struck my attention is the 12 or maybe 16 oz. water bottle that sat in the middle at the top of her head.  It made me smile and its in those moments that I wished that I carried my camera to take a snapshot.

Seeing how perfect she balanced that bottle while she walked with her natural gait made me reflect a little on the subject of balance as I drove towards the restaurant.  Of how easy it is to lose our balance with situations and the circumstances that surround it.  I’ve always striven for a sense of calm and emotional balance in my life and most people who know me consider me a well balanced individual.  So that when I find myself being at odds with the unbalance in my life I start to withdraw inwards to that place of solitude that helps me gather my wits once again.

I can’t speak to balance when I walk ~be certain that if I’m ever walking along side you that I will bump into you.

Just remember that life is like a bicycle, in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving.
