P is for… (challenge)

Snapshot_007

Second Life was being difficult last night and after several attempts to try and get back in I just stopped.   Apparently unscheduled maintenance was the cause of my frustration in those attempts. This morning I log and try to get the credits I needed to have been able to post this last night and wouldn’t you know it I get a restart within a few minutes of only looking away to check my email.   I’m easily distracted like that.  With no time to teleport away I’m off Second Life within seconds.

I just don’t have the patience or really the time to wait to be able to log back in, so I am going to do my very best to credit those items I don’t know offhand.  Yesterday’s letter of the alphabet challenge was “P” and what better opportunity to feature these items from Poche.  This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while now, because this store is one of my favorite places not only because of their generosity in always giving away gifts in their store, but their reasonable prices for what they do charge so I always end up buying their stuff.   The strawberry sweet tart and the flowers on the table are items that are currently at Seasons Story (I hope!) and for only 50L!.  Actually on a quick check to the Seraphim blog, this is the right location.  The other food is also from Poche and its a curry set and the breads are separate and also from Poche.   You really ought to check out their cute cafe – one at the main store and another at a different location.

Today’s letter I will do later tonight hopefully and since it’s “Q” I think it will stand for a quiet moment.

O is for… (challenge)

“I would rather hurt, than feel nothing at all” ~ Lady Antebellum

Crying 4

I put this picture together last night, so today I get to post a little earlier than usual.  When I was looking for something that began with the letter “O” it was hard to come up with anything that didn’t begin with like orange and I didn’t have too many designers with the letter either.   Though as I was going through some of my of dated folders (a habit of dumping everything I purchase into a folder and dating it) I ran across this sweater from OhmEga.   For the life of me I don’t remember buying it or do I recognize the designers name.   However, as I put it on to see how it looked, the sweater is actually very nice.  Plus it’s very comfy to relax and lounge in.   My mood certainly called for a nice huge cup of ice cream to make it all better.

I am also featuring this cute bunny that Ohmai released for the Love Donna Flora event and since its Easter time, it seemed perfect to include.

N is for … (challenge)

“Daisies are like sunshine to the ground” ~ Drew Barrymore

Daisys 1

My second post for today is for the alphabet challenge and today’s letter is “N” and I am featuring this  “Blooming Daisies” pose from Nani that I got in a hunt.   I have several other poses form this store, except this is the one I liked most for today’s post.

Snapshot_006

Actually, the other poses were mostly couple ones and well I have a bit of a problem as I am missing the other person that makes the couple.

Snapshot_009

I must confess that I purchased this daisy field off market place as I didn’t have one in my overstocked inventory.   Though this pose just called for a whole daisy field and for 99L it was worth getting for these pictures.   While I’m confessing, I might as well tell that I derendered my neighbors whole house along with furniture to ensure it wouldn’t show in the background.   Then with just a change in angle, all that work was for naught as it was completely out of view.

M is for… (challenge)

Snapshot_001

I am sort of continuing my country theme from yesterday with today’s post.  It wasn’t planned that way.  When I thought about what I wanted to blog for the letter “M” today I went into my furniture folder under the designers or stores that begin with that letter.   I immediately thought of the pink diesel truck that I had purchased well over a year ago from Michigan Shack when I came across the store.

Snapshot_005

When we used to travel during my pre and teenage years cross country from Florida to Washington state I would often be looking at all these diesel trucks passing us on the road and wondered what it would be like to travel in one.

Snapshot_004

It is not something that I wonder about today.  Thinking driving in one of those can’t be possibly all that comfortable.  On second thought, nowadays I am sure they are equipped with comfort in mind.   Besides MS I am also sporting this cowboy hat from Mesh Mafia and a thermo from Monaya.   Yeehaw!

K & L is for… (challenge)

Snapshot_007

I am playing catch up today with the alphabet challenge doing both the letters K & L combined.  For the first letter I decided to feature this green meadow yellow poppy grass from KIDD, one of my favorite places for landscaping stuff.   Then featuring these tall and mature oak trees from Lilith Heart, another favorite place for landscaping items.

Snapshot_002

These horses are a purchase from today’s 30 L Saturday, they are a static herd of four horses at 8 prims.  They are no copy, but for 30L a steal in my opinion.  I couldn’t resist buying a few in the event I ever decided to get a ranch in-world again.

For my L letter I decided to feature poses from two stores, Label Motion and Lib Descent Poses and also these blue jeans from Lapointe & Bastchild.   I could also count my letter as “landscaping”.  🙂

Lesson 45/J is for…

“The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases.” ~ Carl Jung

Snapshot_018

I am combing this lesson with the letter “J” for the alphabet challenge.   Originally I had planned a totally different outfit and story for this lesson, except yesterday when I was meant to post it I had major inventory issues. Like in the split second of whatever I was doing I lost a significant portion of my inventory — going from 125,000 plus items to like 84,000.  Several attempts later I was beginning to get into acceptance mode and settled in for spending some quiet time relaxing with a friend.   Before going to bed I made one last attempt of cleaning out my cache as instructed on the Firestorm help pages and it seemed to work and I went to bed happy.

For my alphabet challenge I decided to go with these ankle boots from Just Design that have the imprint of the UK. They were included in the two for one in a past 21 Shoe events with the other imprint being the USA.  I wore them to represent walking in another’s shoes, even if it doesn’t apply to the actual lesson as given.   In Second Life we have the opportunity to meet people from many different countries.   The concept of walking in another’s shoes would perhaps serve us well in understanding their culture, expressions and behavior.

I love this lesson and it serves as a great reminder for me,especially as it comes in a very timely manner for something that recently happened.  Hope it helps you as well.

Lesson 45: Walk in Anothers Shoes

Most of us are so wrapped up in our own lives that we rarely stop to consider the needs, desires, and feelings of others. But it’s important for us to realize that when we view life from our own limited perspective, we’re only seeing half the picture. To have true intimacy and connection in our relationships, we must spend time walking in another’s shoes.

When we’re in conflict with those we care about; or when we aren’t being treated with the love, respect, or tenderness we desire, we have two basic choices. We can defend our position and try to prove that we’re right, or we can look at ourselves through their eyes. The first choice hardens our hearts, while the second opens us to new levels of compassion, understanding, and intimacy.

Your Self-Love Assignment

Think of someone in your life you don’t feel as close to as you’d like. This could be someone who you feel misunderstands you, judges you, or doesn’t treat you the way you’d like to be treated.

Imagine that you are this person, and write from them to you. It’s important to do this when you’re in a relaxed, centered mood. I recommend that you go for a walk or spend a few minutes getting quiet before you begin. Then, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Imagine that this person is sitting in front of you. Allow yourself to feel what life is like in their shoes. Just write from the other person’s perspective about what it’s like to be in a relationship with you.

Notice if walking in another’s shoes allows you to feel more compassion or connection with this person.

Self-Love Points Earned

H and I is for… (challenge)

Snapshot_002

H is for horses!!  I am featuring this rocking horse that I bought from Hideki at a previous Chapter Four event.   I just think it’s the cutest thing.   Then for my letter “I” it was just as easy to pick some other gatcha items from the same folder I tucked them all in from Ionic.   I love their stuff and usually play their machines, though lately I just haven’t been switching out houses fast enough to decorate with new stuff.

F and G is for…

Snapshot_006

Today I’m doing double duty and doing yesterday’s letter and today’s as I just didn’t have time to get around to doing a blog post.   I am wearing a jacket from a store called FA Creations (letter F) and I teamed it up with these leather pants that come with a bullet belt.   Yep, I’m being a little dangerous today.   This outfit just called for a gun (letter G) and Finesmith gave me that with this gun necklace.  All I needed was a pair of handcuffs and so when I put that into my inventory I found this necklace by Maxi Gossamer.

I’ve already found the bad guy.  He’s so bad.. that he’s sooooooo good. 😀

D is for…

“Glamour is what makes a man ask for your telephone number.  But it also is what makes a woman ask for the name of your dressmaker.” ~ Lilly Dache

Snapshot_00521

Today’s letter is D and I choose to go with this fabric shop set from Dysfunctional Designs, because I absolutely love it.   I really meant to blog this way back when it came out, a few weeks ago at a “We ❤ Role Play” event (crosses fingers I’m right on this).  Then time just gets away.  In my case, it’s also that things really get buried in my inventory and I loose track easily what I purchase from week to week.

This fabric shop set just made me think of an era I have only read in books.  When dresses were made specifically for you at dress maker shops and you were fitted to be able to get the perfect dress made.

Lesson 44 & C is for…

Save Me

I am going to combine my weekly lesson with the Alphabet Challenge just to make things easier for me and I’m feeling a bit lazy.

Today’s letter is C and I picked to go with this hair from CaTwA and dressed myself in a top from Cold Logic and pants from Coco.    That’s not all.  I added earrings from Chop Zuey and shoes from Candy Doll.   It was a bit of a struggle to find a pose this time around so I just choose one at random and tweaked it a little with Animare and while it looks like I’m about to jump off a bridge — it’s more like feeling on the edge.  🙂

Yep, I think that completes the letter of the day.

Jumping

Hope this lesson gives you as much thought as it has me.

Lesson 44:  What is Your Story?

Each of us has a story – a personal drama – that’s uniquely ours. Our story is the identity we’ve created that we now believe ourselves to be. Our stories define our limitations, telling us what we can and cannot do; and how much love, success, and happiness we’re entitled to. The stories we tell ourselves about who we are either open us up to new possibilities for happiness and fulfillment or they shut us down. Whenever we’re struggling, or not getting the results we want, we can be certain that we’re living inside a story that doesn’t serve us.

The good news is, you’re not only the star of your drama, you’re the creator of it. If you don’t like what’s showing up on the screen of your life, you’re the one with the power to change it.

Your Self-Love Assignment

1.  Choose an area of your life where you’ve been struggling, where you’re unhappy, or where you feel like you’re not getting your needs met.

2.  Begin to distinguish the story you tell yourself about this part of your life. What role are you playing within this story? Are you the victim? The villain? The damsel in distress?

3.  Next, ask yourself, “What internal or external shift would I have to make in order to become the hero of this story?”

4.  Commit to taking the actions you see.

Self-Love Points Earned

Give yourself 100 points for identifying the role you’ve been playing in the story of your life, and an additional 150 points for shifting your role from victim to hero.
