The night before I had a trip down memory lane when I ran into someone that I met at a music venue back in 2011 the year I started in Second Life. Over time the different time zones — west coast vs. east coast and life in general we lost touch along the way. I teased him about not having changed much as he was still in the same skin and wearing different yet signature black sunglasses — even if back then he was the first male avatar that I thought had decent looking pixels.

That we meet up again at a music venue — well that too hasn’t changed as music was and is still one of his passions here. Toto shares ownership of Dinah Moez Diner, where they serve up aural delights most Saturday nights so go check it out on the weekends if you’re looking for some great live music entertainment.

As we were talking I remembered that he accompanied me on one of my exploration trips, which got me thinking if I had saved any of those pictures. I really liked this sim for it’s walking trail that spanned the sim as seen in the first picture. It had lots of sheep and rain as you can see in the picture below, but for the life of me I cannot recall the name.

I wonder if it’s still around. Having found the pictures it was fun fixing them up with the skills that I know today.

Winter Wonderland

I can’t decide if I want to be in awe of the falling snow or I’m about to take a tumble for being on a slippery iced bridge. The pose I’m on is actually more towards the middle of the bridge. I did some major adjusting to be able to show the Christmas outfit by Q’s Quties that lil me is wearing. It is available at the All The Little Things.

The snowy bridge, bench, snowman and sign are all part of a Winter Wonderland gacha from Buglets at the Playroom that just opened yesterday. They are miniature size for the toddleedoo and all the pieces are great for setting up a winter wonderland for the little ones.

I’ll be home with bells on

I think the bell on the wreath made me think of the song “I’ll Be Home With Bells On” when I looked at the picture this morning. It’s a holiday classic that still brings a smile and makes you want to stomp your feet. I am listening to it as I’m sitting here writing and starting to get energized.

I absolutely love the feel of a cabin as it conjures up an image of a large fireplace roaring with a warm fire and the idea of sipping hot chocolate all the while in long johns and fuzzy socks. Chuckles.

Plant’er Right Here

Check out this new hair style by enVOGUE. It’s rigged and fitted mesh and is available in a whopping 96 colors, plus root and ombre colors too. There are 12 colors for the cap and is now available at the main store. The earrings, which are called nightmare are by Le Morte and are available at this round of Totally Top Shelf. Both the hair and earrings come with a texture change hud.

A friend asked me a question today that I’ll share. It was this. If you love someone and you are upset and angry, would you rather be with others or with that person you love? For me it was a no-brainer, so I didn’t hesitate in saying the person that I love. I did add that if I’m angry and upset with the person I’m in love with — well then I might want to go off and be alone until I cool off.

Then we sort of had a brief discussion on what it really means when someone who professes to care for you does exactly that when they’re upset — spends time with others instead of you and while the explanation might seem plausible it has a ring of untruth in it. Could it be their feelings are not really true? Playing games — I want to have my cake and eat it too syndrome?

For the record we are talking about relationships within the framework of Second Life that are supposed to be based on good intentions. That of developing a relationship that involves real thoughts and feelings and going outside the realm of this platform. Mind you we didn’t really come up with an answer — just mindful that distortion can occur when you’re in a world built around fantasy. Some people are just wired differently. What do you think?

Speaking of I want to have my cake and it too. I’m sure this probably happens to you men too. I’m strictly saying it from some of my experiences lately, so here is my advice to some of you men in this virtual world. It’s all nice and great when you want to compliment a woman on her looks or even something in her profile. “I get it. You’re just being polite”. My 22-year old niece would say, but Tia (aunt) they just can’t help themselves with my beauty and they have to speak it out. I love her. She makes me laugh.

Though guys if you’re wondering why you may not get a response — perhaps you need to check your partner box and put your eyes back on the woman standing next to you or the one you’re dancing with.

I’ll confess that I don’t often look at the profile before I respond with a simple thank you and close the box. Though what if that partnered someone tries to then engage you in a conversation beyond that? Do you close the box once again and completely ignore? Or do you give them a piece of your mind?

I choose to go with the first option. I just don’t have the desire or the willingness to engage even further. What about you?

I’ll have to save my very favorite experience of the week for another day, because I’m late with my postings today.

Peace and tranquility begins inside of you first

Are you all done with your Christmas decorating? I’m not. I don’t even have a house down right now. The momentum is building to create something with all these Christmas decorations that I’ve been showing. Maybe I will work on that this weekend. Maybe. I just desire to be foolishly free and unencumbered and have fun and enjoy myself again.

Sometimes I have so much to say and other days like now I sit here waiting for the words to flow and nothing comes out. It’s not like my mind is totally blank. In fact my mind is racing with too many thoughts floating around in there… like what do I need to get done today to where did this year go? It will be dad’s birthday in a few days and I’m no longer near to take flowers to his grave site.

Then there is a ping beside me letting me know there is a text on my phone and a good reminder to get out of my thoughts.

Just taking a moment to breath is always good

It’s the season for baking and having fun

Showing more bears today — the baking ones from Boogers coming to the Arcade in just a few more days. Plus lil me is wearing this cute reindeer costume from Heirloom Treasures at the upcoming new round of All the Little Things.

I’m a bit tired today from pushing myself a little hard yesterday by walking two miles straight without stopping. It probably didn’t help that I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reconnecting with an old friend. It’s kind of funny that when you least expect it you have one of those days where everything just flows and you just feel things are changing. Maybe it’s only because I’m coming out of the box I’ve been in for so long. I don’t know other than its starting to feel different and it feels good.

I also had an amusing time yesterday by going into InWorldz for an hour or so and what an interesting experience. The last time I logged in was when I registered a name there over two years ago and so upon entering I landed at their welcome center. There was a group of people there that were just the most friendliest I have ever experienced in a long time. Most of the individuals, all except one, were dressed in what I remember from my early start of second life.

This one guy had skin that was modern second life and was dressed in clothes that was either mesh or just extremely good quality. We ended up striking a conversation and he shared his perception of the differences of both virtual worlds. He was a previous builder in this world and that explained his skin as he made it and imported into that world. I think the most interesting observation was his remarks of how less toxic people were there compared to here.

I think that is a personal experience depending on where and who you surround yourself with and the kind of person you are as well. Maybe there’s some truth to that quote of being careful who you invite into your life, because you’re not only inviting them you’re inviting all their demons too.
