[ARIA] at The Men’s Dept.

It’s the first days of the month and that always signals the newest rounds of ongoing events. That means that in a couple of days the next round of The Men’s Department is opening up and [ARIA] has a new mini bedroom set called “Aidan” that includes a bed that will be available in both PG or adult, a side table and table light. The bed has single and couple animations with rezzable and auto attach props and as always you can find texture change options to suit your color palette with both the bed and the table light. The event starts on the 5th of January and this bedroom set will be heavily reduced just for the event.

I used the retreat home by The [Den.] that I featured the day before and also some of the living room set that I also blogged in the last few days from [ARIA]. Both of these sets can be found at the newest round of Uber. While not extremely noticeable in the pictures though used as a background are the 4-season trees by Sweet Revolutions that are available for 30L Saturday today. They are no copy, but a great bargain nonetheless. If you want another bargain and like ancient things, the Egyptian statue with a side plant can be found at Storax Tree for only 10L.

Winter Home Retreat

I hope everyone had a fantastic time bringing in the New Year and hopefully still enjoying some down time. Mine was great and I have a few more days before having to haul myself back to work and everything once again returns to a bit of normalcy. Even though the Christmas holiday is pretty much over the winter months are not gone and what a perfect way to settle down here in your Second Life then perhaps getting away to a comfy little retreat home, which I am featuring today.

This is a lovely open space 15 x 15 mesh home made by The [Den.] with a land impact of 35 that comes with a built in fireplace and chandelier. It is now available for purchase at this month’s round of Uber where you’re bound to find some other fabulous stuff.

My first two pictures show it as I envisioned it decorated for myself though with this big of space the possibilities are endless. The last two pictures are just two close ups showing the building by itself.

Living the Life with [ARIA]

I got the chance to go into Second Life this morning and take a couple of pictures of great offerings that [ARIA] has at the newest rounds of both Uber and FaMESHed. This first picture is of this gorgeous and classic “Ophelia” sitting set that gives you fabric and metal texture change. The sofa can sit up to three avatars and the armchairs can sit up to two. The whole set is loaded with single and couple animations with auto attachable props or rezzable as well, even the coffee table has animations. The set comes in either PG or an adult version and all items are materials ready and are copy/mod.

At FaMESHed you can find the “Amaryllis” industrial modern kitchen set that gives you the ability to change texture on the metal and wood to suit your needs. It also has single and couple animations and is materials ready. Comes with all the items shown.. herb plants, dishes and pots and pans, kitchen accessories and stove and refrigerator. You can find it tomorrow when the event opens.

The Christmas Blues.

Decorating the Christmas tree is almost a tradition in my family. It’s one of these 7-foot round artificial fir trees that my mother has had for almost 20 years. Surprisingly, for it’s age it still looks rather good and while we look each year for a new one they never seem to measure up. The color scheme is usually decided upon months in advance and when it’s time to decorate it all my sisters and my mother get together to do it.

This year the tree is a country theme and has ornaments that have been collected over the years and then each year that collection grows as we all contribute as we find things throughout our shopping excursions. This silver and blue color scheme in my picture is one we did in 2012, so it was kind of fun doing something similar with this new foyer mini set that [ARIA] has created for the Sou(Creation.jp) event that opens in a few days on December 20th. The set consists of the jar with the birch branch, decorative cushions in which the two cushion pile has six fabric choices and the single cushion has three. The bench comes with six fabric choices and loaded with single and couple animations.

What’s that rumble?

I was going for the surprised shocked look of a child hearing the rumble coming through the fireplace except that due to a malfunction of sorts the Emoter HUD got stuck on two emotions at the same time and gave me this smile shocked expression instead. This is why I have instead an impatient fearless child that anticipates Santa is about to arrive.

Some of the creators that participated at The Arcade during this round were very generous with their gifts that you can find under the large Christmas tree that sits in the middle of the Arcade. Two of my favorite items were the milk and chocolate milk bottles and the plate of ginger pig cookies, which is just like one of our Mexican pastries that looks exactly the same just a bit thicker. They are called “Marranitos,” which translated means little piggies.

The light during winter.

If the Arcade alone was not like a candy overload on its own. It’s now a new month and that means many events are opening. FaMESHed started on the 1st and [ARIA] is offering the “Trieste” bed, which is available as a PG and Adult version and comes with three preset colors for the bedding. It can sit up to two avatars and several animations that gives you rezzable/auto attachable props to make the experience enjoyable. I always love the clear and clean textures and the details of the items that [ARIA] creates. It always gives me that feeling of home.

Another event that is now open is The Men’s Department and [ARIA] has made the Emmanuel Winter Chic Gacha Set for this event. The chaise lounge has single and couple animations that also have rezzable/auto props. As always a few color choices for you to choose from. There are six textures for the cushions, throw and accent cushions. The rest of the set includes the snowflake decorative cushions by the bed, table with table top trees and the hanging snowflakes. These items are transfer and modify and materials ready.

[ARIA] @ Uber

The next round of events are all right around the corner and one of them is Uber that opens November 30th at midnight. The theme for this month is Vogue and [ARIA] is participating in this round with a mini set named “Cindy” that includes a ball chair that can sit up two avatars that includes single and couple animations. Plus you get two base textures and six fabrics to choose from. The book shelf and the table have two textures that you can select from and the plant pot has six. Everything is materials ready and are copy/mod and comes in a PG or Adult version.

The Christmas season is definitely upon us here in Second Life with the fun and festive items that are being released for the holidays. I am featuring this daybed that [ARIA] has at the current round of No21. It comes in two versions, a pre-decorated and a plain version and three options of leather to choose from with each bed. You get more options for the knit throws and for the cushions on the pre-decorated bed. They each come with single and couple animations, with rez/auto attach props. Always a great bargain in my book when you get more than several colors to choose from without having to buy separately.

The comforts of home.

There is a new round at The Men’s Department that started yesterday and ARIA has released an entryway set. It consists of the glass table pictured along with some of the decorative items like the books, vases and sea urchins, plus a pouf that is texture change. The pouf also has some nice sits for both female and male and some cute auto-attach props that will have you looking active either texting, working or reading and a few more. See credits below for the rest of the items.

It was some time after joining Second Life that I discovered that there was actual publications that brought you the latest on all the fashions and creations on the grid. I found it amusing at the time even if I did admire the creative work that went into them. Flipping through a few of them is also how I discovered many new stores I knew nothing about. Well earlier this year I was asked by another friend if I wanted to write a story for SL Fierce Magazine and at first I wasn’t sure if it was something I wanted to do.

I accepted the assignment and wrote two articles on my interviews with some well known creators on the grid and another on the founding of the photography school Visionaire Institute. Recently the Fall issue was published and my interview with the founder of the “Rock Your Rack” fundraiser that supports the work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation is included.

One day I’ll look back and smile fondly at these experiences.
