The Christmas Blues.

Decorating the Christmas tree is almost a tradition in my family. It’s one of these 7-foot round artificial fir trees that my mother has had for almost 20 years. Surprisingly, for it’s age it still looks rather good and while we look each year for a new one they never seem to measure up. The color scheme is usually decided upon months in advance and when it’s time to decorate it all my sisters and my mother get together to do it.

This year the tree is a country theme and has ornaments that have been collected over the years and then each year that collection grows as we all contribute as we find things throughout our shopping excursions. This silver and blue color scheme in my picture is one we did in 2012, so it was kind of fun doing something similar with this new foyer mini set that [ARIA] has created for the Sou(Creation.jp) event that opens in a few days on December 20th. The set consists of the jar with the birch branch, decorative cushions in which the two cushion pile has six fabric choices and the single cushion has three. The bench comes with six fabric choices and loaded with single and couple animations.

Just showing another ideal winter scene, even though I would wager shoveling snow doesn’t look this easy. I can’t say that my memory stretches far back to this age as a child to what I might have been like waiting for Christmas to arrive. Though considering that I’m known to be a little impatient at times (smirks a little) it is likely that this would probably have been me waiting and thinking… when are you going to get here Santa!

In honor of Mexican Independence Day…

Today is Mexican Independence Day and I couldn’t go without honoring this holiday in some way. While it is something thought of and often acknowledged on this day, it’s not typically a holiday that many American born Mexican families in the USA celebrate. That doesn’t mean we’re not proud of our heritage. Most of us have a great appreciation for our Mexican culture and the homeland of our ancestors. If anything we definitely enjoy our Mexican food.

Shattered

I found this shattered man statue at an animated texture shop. It seemed like it would make a great decor item for the house, even if the space I have him in now is a bit tight for his outstretched arms. I’m breaking in the new mini furniture set that Aria released for this month’s FaMESHed event that consists of the sofa, table and vase with poppies. I love the details on the sofa and kept going between the three colors and finally settled on this grey. I must say that I really like when you can buy an item that gives you choices in the wood and fabric textures. Personally, I am more inclined to spend lindens on an item like this for a set price than for an item with one color choice for the same price. I also really like that some designers are allowing you to buy items individually. I don’t always want the whole set, but would love to have a particular accessory that comes with the set.

This cool jacket that I’m wearing is a group gift from .Shi. It comes with a HUD to change the jacket color and comes with a fabric necklace. The necklace took me a little time to fit almost right, but the hair covered the bit of imperfection, which is the necklace going through the jacket. I believe this will vary by avatar and mine is a little bigger than normal.

Coastal Bedroom Sets

Today I am showing two complete bedroom sets from Aphrodite Shops. The first is the “Seashell Finder” Coastal bedroom set that comes with the adult wooden bed with 157 animations for singles and couples, love scenes and also comes with props and rezzing scenes. Each set comes with a couples love seat with animations for single as well, plus bedside tables and a menu controlled fireplace. The set also has decorative pieces to make the room cozy. The standing candles in the picture above are a previous group gift and the skybox, shell on top of the fireplace and the plant with pots are not part of the bedroom set.

The second coastal bedroom is called the “Sailor Seabreeze”, which has everything that I mentioned above. The skybox, along with the plant and pots outside, beaded shell curtain on the wall and the plant inside are not part of the bedroom set.

Reading the news…

Anymore reading the news is so discouraging and yet it’s good to stay informed about what is happening around the word as well as your individual locality. Though it’s always best to remember that news is often reported with a heightened sense to evoke the greatest emotion that sells. I have respect for the written word, but dealing with the news media in my professional career has definitely given me a new perspective on how news is reported.

Reading an actual newspaper would be somewhat of a novelty for me now since I read most of my news via the computer or my favorite gadget my trusty handy tool the iPad. Even in Second Life, it’s great that we have magazines that keep us informed. I love perusing blogs, though most only report credits and to keep up with what’s new in the fashion world, those blogs do well. Though I also love to read what inspires creations and the motivation behind a lot of what happens in this virtual world.
