I’m stealing the line… “Oh the things we do for family” from a fellow blogger. I ran around a few grocery stores this morning just to find a particular brand of peppered bacon for my sister. My suggestion of just buy any regular brand of bacon and slap it with a load of pepper and you get the same thing quite wasn’t good enough. It’s like you’re only feeding the family and we’ll understand if the recipe didn’t come out exactly perfect. We’ll only tease you from here on out at every family function. You can see why I shy away from the kitchen.

Now a little Second Life. As you all know I love creating fantasy outfits and with so many new inspiring items it’s hard not to want to create something fun and totally not of this century. I plan on continuing to do this, except under a new blog created specifically for this purpose. Every now and then I have felt my fantasy and/or role-play posts clashed a little with my mainstream posts of fashion and home and garden decor as well with the family oriented pictures with little me. My biggest hesitation was the impact of having two blogs and what it would mean time wise and the additional work if any.

My experience with blogging so far has been very rewarding on a personal level and for the most part stress free. While I don’t know how long this journey will last, in the mean time I plan to just enjoy it if lasts only a week longer, a month or a year. Not only has experience shown me, but the last few months have too that sometimes things can rapidly change. I’m still working on fixing up the layout as I remember how to do all those widgets once again, but slowly getting there.

Until the cows come home.

This picture really represents my desire just to be able to sleep. I had high hopes of sleeping in this morning, when the neighbor’s car alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. and so after that wake up I drifted off only for my phone alarm to go off an hour later. Guess it was a sign to wake up.

My big pixels have no trouble finding rest as you can see, while the little me wants to play. These Bessie the Cows are from Dysfunctional Designs and are available at the Fantasy Collective. There are two versions, the static grazing cows and one with poses and there are several texture choices for the cows.

I’m off to do some real shopping, so everyone have a fabulous Saturday!

YS&YS for 21Shoe

This round of 21Shoe is proving to have some fabulous sexy shoes. I’m wearing one of the shoes that *YS&YS* has made for this round, called the Monaco Suede Ivory. It’s a gorgeous heel that is made to be worn with SLink high feet, Maitreya Lara body or the Belleza Venus high feet. I’m not showing the second pair as part of the two-for-one, but the shoe is the same in a glossy fuchsia color. You can check it out on the 21Shoe website and also see the other amazing shoes that will be available on March 21st at the individual stores. Doing a second post today to show this “Ocean Loft’ full sitting set being offered by [CIRCA] at the Color Me Project event. The teal and blue grey set comes with the chairs that have 14 animations each. What I especially like is that each chair comes with different animations. There are two round tables with decor, a coffee table and a landscape painting of a stormy sea. You can find this whole set at 50% off at the Color Me Project event from March 14th through March 19th.

It’s a mundane Tuesday, though given that I’ve had a terrible headache most of the day and still do, my thinking is a bit clouded. So hopefully, it’s a fabulous day for the rest of you.

The years gone by.

Sometimes I long for what is familiar. I remember visiting my paternal grandmother’s wooden frame home back when I was a child. They lived in a small town in Washington state, a population that at the 2010 census was just under 11,000. My grandmother was one of those stern, independent maternal types, who was also a bit of a hell raiser too. She loved antiques and her home was filled in every corner with furniture and decorative pieces that sat atop these lace dollies. I remember antique curios full of china, colorful glass ornaments and vases and everything of value to her. It wasn’t a big house by today’s standards, but it was big in my eyes then and it had character. One of the fondest memories that me and my older siblings have is that she always sent us care packages full of clothes and toys and when she visited she always came calling with these big old trunks full of gifts. My dad was sort of her favorite and well we got the benefits of that favoritism.

She’s been long gone. The last time I visited that area and her original home was some eight years ago while on a business trip to Seattle and I took a few extra days to visit with family. My aunt now lives in that home and while her taste in decor isn’t of the same caliber or charm.. it still held the that old familiar smell of years gone by.

I mentioned yesterday that if there is something I really like and want that I will spend the lindens for it. Though in most cases I might give it some thought before succumbing to that little voice that whispers in my ear get it now. Though with so many events and creators producing new releases at a record speed not to mention the quality of mesh being even better these days, lets face it we’re spoiled for choice if not lindens. I am sort of laughing as I think about gachas and I should have put a disclaimer that this does not apply to those gawd awful machines, especially the ones that don’t want to cooperate with you for that item you want. If you get down to adding the cost for all those pulls on the machine… we pay a small fortune for an item we might not have otherwise spent full price on it at the store. Guilty.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve also noticed that the price of stuff in Second Life has slowly been creeping up. No, I’m not about to go on a rant about this subject. I think the choice of what we buy and are willing to pay for items is a personal choice. It’s just an observation and it came to mind as I sat here writing this and thought of my waffling back and forth on purchasing a mesh body.

Given that 50% of the time when I am out shopping or anywhere on the grid I see all these mesh body parts all over the place it’s not the best incentive for me to want to have one. I realize that’s probably due to my internet speed more than anything and the rest of you don’t see the same. As for pros and cons there wasn’t much of an imbalance for me. The creator of my signature skin hasn’t released an applier for it, though it’s in the works to be released soon. It basically just boiled down to whether I wanted to fork over the lindens. Then recalling that I had not properly spent the lindens that a friend gave me for Christmas and knowing his inclination of always improving yourself. It was an easy decision to splurge using his gift of lindens to better myself.

Merry belated Christmas to me.

Living the Life with [ARIA]

I got the chance to go into Second Life this morning and take a couple of pictures of great offerings that [ARIA] has at the newest rounds of both Uber and FaMESHed. This first picture is of this gorgeous and classic “Ophelia” sitting set that gives you fabric and metal texture change. The sofa can sit up to three avatars and the armchairs can sit up to two. The whole set is loaded with single and couple animations with auto attachable props or rezzable as well, even the coffee table has animations. The set comes in either PG or an adult version and all items are materials ready and are copy/mod.

At FaMESHed you can find the “Amaryllis” industrial modern kitchen set that gives you the ability to change texture on the metal and wood to suit your needs. Heart Homes/Aphrodite Shops recently released this Autumn love nest home that is available at Room69 until November 20th. It has some lovely details like the ivy that wraps around the poles and the intricate heart shape decor on the doors just to name a few. It really makes for a nice home. I’m also showing this pumpkin cart and blanket set from [CIRCA], which has 24 animations built into the blanket and two in the cart.

ARIA at Uber

The monthly event Uber is now open and ARIA has a new mini set that is available there. The set includes a two sitter sofa, which comes with five leather texture options, three metal and wood options. It has single and couples animations and comes in Adult or PG version. The other items in the set include a metal trunk coffee table, cushions, flowers, decorative antler and a book pile with a metal skull. As usual a very versatile set that can be used almost year round. The rest of the items seen are noted below in the credits.

Malfunction.

Ever have those moments when you feel like an idiot? Today I tripped over a box full of reports that was near my desk and the fall wasn’t a soft one. I was in the outer office grabbing my mail from my inbox and there were several large envelopes that obscured my vision when I walked back in to my office to go to my desk. Having dressed up a little more formal for a board meeting that afternoon with 2.5 inch heels — it didn’t help in breaking my fall. I landed hard on my right knee that is now bruised and swollen. My left shoulder hit the credenza that also sports a bruise and is swollen. My mouth hit the floor and I’m just thankful that besides a slight tinge of feeling I don’t have busted lips on top of the rest.

After the impact I tried to raise up and had no strength in my limbs to rise. I managed to turn around and sit on my arse until I felt somewhat resourceful again to rise up towards my chair. I could have called someone obviously, the phone was just a couple feet away. Though, I felt like such an idiot falling that I just waited it out and luckily no one walked in to see me sitting on the floor.

So that was my crazy day. I took these pictures last night and you could say my luck wasn’t holding out then either – with hitting a mild on my sexual appeal.
