When I was a child me and my siblings used to love when my paternal grandmother would visit because often times she would bring with her those big vintage trunks full of stuff for us.  The trunks would contain some gift for my dad, little knickknacks for my mom and clothes and toys for us. Even when she wasn’t visiting she would always send us these big packages in the mail that always included something for us.  We loved her surprises.

These new mailboxes by BoOgErS were the kind we used to have when I was growing up and remind me of that long ago happy memory.  Speaking of these mail boxes, they are no ordinary kind.  The mail boxes and gate make sounds when you click to open them, giving you or anyone who touches them a little fun.  They are currently available at the new round of Shiny Shabby that just started so you have plenty of time to go grab your own.

I didn’t do these shrubs very much justice in the picture today, though will plan on featuring them again soon.  They are a new item by Jian and come in sizes small to tall and also a hedge, including their hud system of being able to change the season.  You can find them at the main store.

A while back Dust Bunny had a fabulous sale at their store, where everything was basically just fifty lindens.  I was familiar with the store from the various gachas they participated in, though rarely if at all gone to the main store.  I instantly fell in love with these gable townhouses, because they also brought a long ago memory to mind of the “Rainbow Row” of historic houses in Charleston, South Carolina.  If you haven’t been it’s a great city to visit, and this is just one of the main tourist attractions to visit.

I don’t have the space for a proper foyer in my real life home as the front door opens right into the living room and just to the left of my entrance is a storage closet to hang coats and other items you want hidden.  Though I’ve always loved the idea of an entry hallway that leads you into other rooms.  In that entry way this Veronica foyer set by [ARIA] that consists of the console table that gives you a few choices on the wood, decorative mirror, plant and the round pouf that also comes with several choices in texture for the fabric would be the perfect thing to put there.   You can find this set at the SOU by Creation.jp event, which is celebrating its first anniversary and will be open until July 25th.  So you have plenty of time to grab this and other great finds at a discount.

I’m a bit out of breath now.  You guessed it.  It’s this very tight corset I am wearing.

You can have a skinny waist too by going and grabbing your very own corset by MoDANNA at the anyBODY event that runs until June 30th.  I’m wearing the red version, though you can find the black corset with several different lining colors at the event.

The diamond shaped tattoo I am wearing is by Things and it is available at the Alice in Sexyland Event.  The word “curiouser & curiouser” inside the diamond shape is a line in the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland book that now is considered one of the more famous verses from the story.   Aside from the diamond shape tattoo you will also find tattoos in the other suits from the deck of playing cards with each having its own phrase from Alice’s adventures.

Lastly, I am wearing another of the fabulous collars that (epia) made for the June round of the arcade.  I think the heart pendant with the gold chain that circles the collar gives it a fashionable and much softer sexier look.

The [Den.] has released a new full mesh residential building that has a land impact of only 39.  I love these low prim homes as it leaves you with plenty of prims to decorate it.  This is a wide open model with plenty of space to decorate too! It is materials ready and has built in lighting with a sliding door and is copy and mod in case you wish to make any changes to suit your needs.

The storm isn’t quite over.

It’s been raining every other day it seems in my real world and today was no exception, so when I was going through the various wind lights trying to find one this one seemed to settle on me.  The [Den] has released  a new model called the Sundara Villa that is only 29 land impact.   It has three large sections to the home and has some really nice design features like the columns in the front of the home to the shape of the windows and the lighted effects of the ceiling in each room.   You can find this home at the current round of Uber.

Tomorrow hundreds will be storming the gates to the entrance of the Arcade.  Though if you want a little less chaos then try FaMESHed, which opens up with a new round tomorrow too.   [ARIA] has the Signe living set, which comes with a very comfortable sectional sofa, and some wonderful decor pieces.  The sofa has up to six different upholstery colors and many patterns to choose from for the cushions and throw. This set can be found in PG and Adult and can be purchased as a set or individual pieces.

The years gone by 001-1

Sometimes I long for what is familiar.  I remember visiting my paternal grandmother’s wooden frame home back when I was a child.  They lived in a small town in Washington state, a population that at the 2010 census was just under 11,000.  My grandmother was one of those stern, independent maternal types, who was also a bit of a hell raiser too.  She loved antiques and her home was filled in every corner with furniture and decorative pieces that sat atop these lace dollies.   I remember antique curios full of china, colorful glass ornaments and vases and everything of value to her.  It wasn’t a big house by today’s standards, but it was big in my eyes then and it had character.   One of the fondest memories that me and my older siblings have is that she always sent us care packages full of clothes and toys and when she visited she always came calling with these big old trunks full of gifts.  My dad was sort of her favorite and well we got the benefits of that favoritism.

She’s been long gone.  The last time I visited that area and her original home was some eight years ago while on a business trip to Seattle and I took a few extra days to visit with family.  My aunt now lives in that home and while her taste in decor isn’t of the same caliber or charm.. it still held the that old familiar smell of years gone by.

Mesh Body 001

I mentioned yesterday that if there is something I really like and want that I will spend the lindens for it.  Though in most cases I might give it some thought before succumbing to that little voice that whispers in my ear get it now.  Though with so many events and creators producing new releases at a record speed not to mention the quality of mesh being even better these days, lets face it we’re spoiled for choice if not lindens.  I am sort of laughing as I think about gachas and I should have put a disclaimer that this does not apply to those gawd awful machines, especially the ones that don’t want to cooperate with you for that item you want.  If you get down to adding the cost for all those pulls on the machine… we pay a small fortune for an item we might not have otherwise spent full price on it at the store. Guilty.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve also noticed that the price of stuff in Second Life has slowly been creeping up.  No, I’m not about to go on a rant about this subject.  I think the choice of what we buy and are willing to pay for items is a personal choice.  It’s just an observation and it came to mind as I sat here writing this and thought of my waffling back and forth on purchasing a mesh body.

Given that 50% of the time when I am out shopping or anywhere on the grid I see all these mesh body parts all over the place it’s not the best incentive for me to want to have one.  I realize that’s probably due to my internet speed more than anything and the rest of you don’t see the same.  As for pros and cons there wasn’t much of an imbalance for me.  The creator of my signature skin hasn’t released an applier for it, though it’s in the works to be released soon.  It basically just boiled down to whether I wanted to fork over the lindens.   Then recalling that I had not properly spent the lindens that a friend gave me for Christmas and knowing his inclination of always improving yourself.  It was an easy decision to splurge using his gift of lindens to better myself.
