Diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend.

021

Today I am showcasing a couple of things. The first item is this gorgeous diamond and crystal necklace and earrings set from **Feel** that will be available at the Jewelry Fair that opens up on September 13 and runs through September 28. The set is texture change giving you the option of a silver or gold metal and having bright on or off.  Considering that my birth stone is a diamond I definitely agree with diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

Next I am wearing this lovely new satin dress that my friend Eve, owner of Evelock, just released. This is her first line of clothing and I can’t wait to see what else she brings to the world of SecondLife fashion. The Bach dress comes with a color HUD that gives you up to nine color choices, four of which have this swirls design that gives it just the perfect elegance. If you want classy, but satin isn’t your thing there are two other sets available. The boho celtic design and the boho naturals and both also come with several choices of colors all available by HUD.  I love that system of being able to change the color of my dress without having to go through the hassle of taking one off and putting on another of a different color.

Truly a nice ensemble that makes you feel like a million bucks.

Fabulous Sin City

Sin City USA

Doing my inventory used to be a time of  stillness where I could do a mindless activity and let those thoughts in my mind reach a place of oblivion.  I haven’t been able to get into that place in the longest of time so my inventory is in chaos once again.   My cleaning habit lately consists of basically dumping all those purchases into a folder and labeling it by whatever day I happen to think it needs a bit of cleaning.

Needing Rehab

Usually when I’m groaning at having to scroll down a bunch of folders looking for something.   It’s probably a good thing I only blog for my own amusement and not trying to get something done on schedule.   Though I like to think it is nice to find things in my inventory that I’ve never worn and it’s like getting something new at the candy store all over again.

Linden Endowment for the Arts

“The mind of Frankx Lafavre is a dangerous thing.” ~ His personal quote

A friend of mine is participating in this current round of the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) Artists-in-Resident Land Grants program.   The following description was taken from the LEA blog, which you can visit for more information.

“The LEA Land Grant program seeks to promote and nurture the arts in Second Life, through a five-month land grant to recipients. Recipients can be individuals or groups interested in creating or curating art, or proposing cultural projects which would require/utilise a full-sim build and can be completed within the allotted time frame. The LEA is able to offer land grants through the generosity of Linden Lab.”

I could not even begin to describe this Australian friend of mine as he is quite a mixture of many things combined — 99 % all good.  His land is called Devil’s Island, so I think he deserves that 1% bad.  Chuckles.   Since I have known him I have always admired his artistic side and his passion and tenacity for building and scripting.   I am extremely glad to see him finally taking more of a plunge to share his art with the Second Life community.

Many of his recent and some of his past works can be seen at LEA and the art sculpture below is a gift that you can locate during the visit.

True Love…7 Year Itch

7 Year Itch

I didn’t start off with wanting to do a blog post today, but after placing this salty boat bar set at my new home it sort of lent itself to a picture.  Originally, my first take of pictures had a plant in the corner where that cigarette machine is at, though it just didn’t seem to fit.  Then I remembered that I had purchased the machine as a backdrop for something else I had in mind.

Now I’m just having a giggle as my sign says love never lasts and the machine has the name of the store, which is “Seven” and my mind just went… “until the 7 year itch then all hell breaks loose.

Beam of Light

“The love of knowledge is a kind of madness.”  ~ C.S. Lewis

Yesterday I tinkered a little with Photoshop and it’s not a program I am eager to learn to use. Personally, I find it such a difficult program to understand even with all the hundreds of tutorials online that I can view.  It’s just not an activity I envision utilizing some of my free time doing. However, I can’t help being fascinated by some of the effects I see on pictures and wondering how it’s done.

I might have mentioned in one of my past posts that I pretty much use PicMonkey to touch up photos.  It’s simple, easy and fast and truth be told I like instant gratification and on to the next thing.

Here are my results.  The cropped picture above was done strictly using PicMonkey and the two pictures below are the outcome of my lesson in inserting a beam of light into my photo using Photoshop.

The before.

I’m quite happy with the way it turned out that I just might play with it again. 🙂

Where the wind blows

Snapshot_016

While I live so close to the ocean I rarely make the time to go out and enjoy the water.  Yesterday I was having lunch with these two lovely ladies who have a common interest in painting and we made plans to do some plein-air painting in the near future.  Plein air, is a French word, that translates  as “open air”, and defined as painting or drawing outside in the open air.   It’s been a while since I last picked up a brush and I’ve always painted within the confines of a studio so this will be a first experience.  Though I’m aiming for something different, so I’ll just see where the wind blows with this painting adventure.  That is what prompted me to go searching for a nice beach in-world and was not disappointed when I found this absolutely delightful location called Crossing Currents.

Besides the lovely landscaping, the ocean and the sounds of the waves the other nice little perk is that it allows you to rez and I don’t know about you, but that is always a big plus.  Now if I can only get my pose animations all worked out to use without too much hassle then it would be a piece of cake.  Now that just makes me want something sweet to eat.

I’ll Tell You a Riddle…

“You’re waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don’t know for sure. But it doesn’t matter. How can it not matter to you where that train will take you?”  This quote was from the movie, “Inception”, aired in 2010.

Snapshot_004

Lately I have felt like I’ve been in a mode of waiting and quite literally I am waiting for things to happen that I have no control over.  I could probably write a whole chapter or even a book ranting about what I’m having to wait for, approval on this or that, such and such to get back to me, etc. You get the drift.

Today I was in a bit of  a funky mood and it really started the previous night.   You know that feeling of not able to really focus on anything, more than a thread of restlessness.  So I opted to have an early night and sleep claimed me almost immediately.  This morning I felt the same effects of gloominess and was quite tired by midday even if I had not really expended any energy, doing much of nothing in all reality.

Then while waiting on someone I was rummaging through my purse when I saw the book that had been given to me as a gift.  I had not paid much attention when I had opened the envelope, but had laid it aside and then later stuffed inside my handbag.  So I pulled it out and read the title, “use ALL the Crayons“, and then read the back of the book to see what it was about.

The author speaks of how he likes to consult with a five-year-old anytime he needs a reminder as to what is important in life.  Further down, he describes like a box of crayons, we are all born with an astounding range of color options, and making every day as vivacious as the brightest crayon in the box.  The book doesn’t profess to make you happy, though it guides you to find simple ideas for living a more colorful life.

Flipping through a few pages I read one idea that had me giggling and thought hmm it has potential. The idea of super-gluing a quarter to the sidewalk outside of a busy downtown office building, then packing a lunch and spending the noon hour watching frustrated executives try to pick the quarter up.  Now tell me that wouldn’t be funny?   I then thought of how high the humidity is where I live at and it’s not likely to happen.  Maybe come winter.

In the space of reading those few pages my spirit was uplifted and I had a brighter outlook.   There will be times in life when you’re in a mode of waiting, so you might as well color your world with the brightest of crayons.

Tax Break

According to the Internal Revenue Service 25% of people wait until the last two weeks to file their tax return. Normally I’m not in that percentile, though this year I just couldn’t get motivated to get started even if I had all my paperwork in a stack sitting near my computer.

Now the clock is ticking with only hours before the big day. I settled into this comfortable chair to get mine completed. It didn’t take me that long, an hour if that. Though it’s one of those things that you really don’t want to do, especially if you’re in that percentile that has to mail in a check.
