It’s starting to get a bit cooler

I’m not sure that I’m quite ready for the winter season just yet. I’m still in awe of the beautiful colors of Autumn, even though here in real life I am starting to feel the changes in the temperature. It’s much cooler in the mornings and the evenings, so very soon I’m going to have to change out my wardrobe from sleeveless tops to sweaters.

I figured that instead of doing another fall scene that I would shoot for a winter one with this new home release by DaD Design called “The New Old Cabin.” It’s known as a classic wooden cabin, which has a large patio front and a large main room with a screen that divides the area.It’s got a footage of 19.5x 11.1 and only a land impact of 44 without the snow. If you add the snow then it increases by 20 and the snow add on is a separate purchase just so you know. It’s currently available at 6 Republic.

I’m also showing some new trees by both Little Branch and Bee Designs, which are the ones in front of the house. The pine trees are by Bee Designs and available at the newest round of Cosmopolitan. There are two options available at the event, but I’m only featuring one set today. The trees range from 4 to 7 land impact.

The trees on the side of the pines are by Little Branch and are called Mystic Board Leaf v1 and v2 seasonal. These are available at the newest just opened round of The Liaison Collaborative. They rez at 7 land impact, but with both trees if you increase or decrease the land impact will go up or down.

The red fox burrow is by JIAN. It was previously released as a Fifty Linden Friday item, so I hope you took advantage of the opening price, but if not you can find this adorable decor item at the main store for a reasonable price. It’s animated and seasonal texture change.

The last items that I am featuring today are the loungers and lake dock by Shutter Field in collaboration with Decor Junction. These are currently at Tres Chic for a couple more days as the event is coming to a close on Nov. 10th, so grab them while you can at a discounted price. I think they worked pretty well for a winter scene.

The retreat getaway

Heart Homes has released the Alpine Retreat House, which is a mesh home that has a land impact of about 145 and includes a working fireplace, lights and optional kitchen.

The bench out in front of the house is also from Heart Homes and is switchable from being snowed to cozy without the snow. It has props for solo and couple poses for a total of 29 animations.

The winter sled, chiminea and foxes are all from Jian and can be found at the store. They are fairly new releases that were previously released at a just passed event, that I didn’t get a chance to post until now. The foxes come in animated or static version.

It’s time to burst the bubble

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was extremely blessed as I got to spend it with my family, eating good food and just spending time together. That alone is one of the greatest gifts we can receive. I got even an unexpected gift that for me went a long way in healing and restoring a little of that brokenness I’ve been feeling. I have to say that it feels good when you finally start to get that sense of release from bottled up emotions. It’s a step in being able to move forward and start embracing something new or at least feel safe enough to start coming out of the bubble and speaking of such.

I somehow missed seeing these glass ornaments at the holiday market and when I saw them on display recently I just had to find some. I managed to grab all the commons at a yard sale and then the owner gifted me with the two rares. It was a very sweet present from a stranger. It’s those acts of kindness that really keeps me believing that there is still good in all of us.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

I am squeezing in another quick post as I already had the picture and credits done. I have only one other post completed except I’m not entirely sure if and when I will post it. For sure after the Christmas weekend I will focus on posting anything left undone.

Though if I don’t get around to doing anything before Christmas, I want to take this time and wish everyone a blessed and wonderful Christmas.

Blue Christmas

I’ll have a Blue Christmas without you

That’s when those blue memories start calling….

I’ve been in a reflective mood lately. No doubt brought upon the fact it will be Christmas in several days and this time of year has a way of tugging at your heart. The big day preceding the eventual New Year’s that is yet to come and you begin to ponder a little on what life brought you this past year and even may wonder what could come of the new one.

I’ve gone down that road here lately. Personally, this year has been a hell of a roller coaster for me as I’ve shared before and despite it I find that I have no real hard feelings. I think by now life has taught me that you are better off making peace with the things that happen and let it go. It’s especially true for those things that in the larger scheme of life are insignificant.

No, it’s those other things that pull on your heart strings, the kind that stirs your emotions and feelings that you have a harder time letting go of. For me it’s been a love that I’ve had a harder time letting go of. The irony here is that I’m often seen as not being completely open as a result of guarding my feelings like a fort. It’s true and maybe something that I need to work on.

Despite the hardships of this year there are still many things to be thankful for and I try never to lose sight of those. As the saying goes… “All great changes are preceded by chaos.”

The song below is very special to me and I was listening to it as I was writing.

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts and may your Christmas time be full of wonderful joy whether it’s here in second or real or both…for real feelings know no distance.

The winter home

I was going to do a regular blog post featuring some pixel food, except I had a bit of a headache this morning and couldn’t be bothered with doing the credits right then. In place of it I am showing my winter place.

Having wonderful memories of spending Christmas in the smoky mountains over the winter holidays sort of evoked that desire to create something similar. This small home is nothing compared to the two story cabin we stayed in nor does it have the wrap around porch with rocking chairs that I fondly recall. Though prim limitations wasn’t a consideration in that scenario.

For a short time I can enjoy the wondrous nature of being in the midst of a winter blizzard as the snow falls outside continuously. Snuggled up on the sofa with… and a good book, enjoying the warmth of the crackling fire in the fireplace all the while wearing mittens and cozy socks and sipping hot cocoa of course.

Having skipped the weekend giving myself a little blogging break to do some other things I’m going to shoot for a second post today.

I can’t remember how long I’ve been a fan of eXxEsS hair and have blogged a few styles in the past as part of my outfits. I’m thrilled to now be a part of their blogger team and look forward to showing more awesome hairstyles in the future. I love the casualness of this hair and the feel it gives of the hair flying naturally with the wind. Hera is mesh hair and comes with a fairly extensive color selection by Hud.

The top and jeans are from MoDANNA and are currently available at the FROST event that runs from December 13th to January 3rd. You will find both of these every day wear items in several colors.

Lil me is wearing this festive holiday hoody by PuddleSplash, which is now at the All The Little Things event that runs until December 21st. You’re bound to find all sorts of fun things for the little ones.

Now for some festive fun decor. The sleigh that comes with animations for two people, is available in silver and gold in both the light and dark wood tones. Due to the fact that my avatar is slightly taller than normal size I had to do a slight modification of the rope, which I raised to fit accordingly. It can be done by using the edit linked feature in the edit menu. The sleigh and the igloo are both from In My Cloud and can be found at The Mid Winter Fair that will run until the end of the month. The snowflakes and star decor is by Una and also available at the Mid Winter Fair in gold and silver.

The last items that I’m featuring today are the trees by Little Branch, which are available at the new round of the LTD Event that runs until December 26th. These trees are 4 seasons, meaning that by the touch of the menu you can pick the season you want to create in your Second Life.

Memories of you always make me smile

Today I’m simply doing a tribute to my father to celebrate his birthday. It’s been 6 years since dad passed and more then ever I miss him terribly.

Dad loved old cars and would from time to time share a long ago memory of some vehicle he drove or owned. The belair was one of those vehicles so when I saw this version recently it was a given that I needed to get it. It’s about the right size as he liked big cars.

His other love was music and dad played the accordion from a young age up until his last days. I’ve showed this accordion on a previous post remembering my father and it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t bring it back out to use as this was his passion. It’s not the same kind of model as his were always the button and not the piano variety.

That Texas marquee was another must have and no it’s not because all my exes live in Texas…well just one! My Dad who grew up in Texas would have chuckled at that as he was a bit of a jokester himself.

Today is a little hard for me not being close to home to take him flowers personally, but I know he wouldn’t want me to give it a second thought. Easier said then done.

Aphrodite Shops has a new garden porch set that comes with three seating sofa/chairs as shown that have an abundance of animations for singles and couples. What I personally like is the three winter color themes for the texture that are accessible by menu when you hit the shadows. It makes for some lovely garden and/or porch furniture for the holiday season.

Well I finally made it to the Arcade only to crash after only a few hits on one or two machines. I thought of going back to the off sim ship, except I kind of like being up close and personal to the machines when I play. It’s like being at a real casino. I rather pull the lever down then hit the buttons — personally I get bored with just sitting there and pressing a button and besides don’t you think it takes your money much faster?

I thought this crazy hair I’m wearing deserved a little play and what better way then to play with this cute holiday hound that was an advent gift.
