Sweet friendships always refreshes the soul

Morning and Happy Friday!! I hope your weekend is off to a good start and while I have somewhat of a busy one with things I have to get done I’m looking forward to mine.

Today’s post is a collaboration with fellow blogger and someone I now call friend, Jules, who has her own blog at Sunshine & Sparkles. It’s an appropriate name for her, as her personality is all sunshine and sparkles and I really like that about her. Plus she shares my sun sign of Aries, with our birthdays just days apart, so we’re finding that we have a lot in common including our feisty nature. I think she has more patience than me and might not be as stubborn as I can be at times. I know that’s hard to believe, but alas it’s true as much as I hate to admit it. I do try to reign it in, because it’s not really endearing qualities to have.

The Cranmore

I mentioned in my blog post yesterday that today I would be featuring a new home. So today I bring you The Cranmore by creator Cain Maven. If you’ve been around Second Life for a while you’re probably already familiar with his homes under his brands Maven Homes and also Quantum Luxury Homes.

Both brands offer you high quality homes in various styles in a wide range of prices. Though having just recently toured one of the previous new releases, the “Roma” home, beautiful large luxury home is almost too simple to describe the beauty and magnificence in size and looks of that particular home.

The Cranmore is way smaller in comparison, but it’s also not a small home either at a size of 32 m x 35 m. It’s a bit of a mixed brick style build as you get a bit of a renovated barn with an industrial rustic feel with a touch of modernness. What I especially liked immediately upon entering the home was the sense of not feeling like I was boxed in. I think that’s attributed to the openness, large picture windows and the high ceilings, which is something you don’t find a lot these days.

The rooms in the house include a bedroom, bathroom, front room, a kitchen with a dining/living room space and attic. The kitchen and bathroom decor is removable. I had a little fun decorating the kitchen with old and new items. The kitchen as mentioned is an open plan where you have the dining room and another living room space. The picture below shows the other side of the kitchen as you enter it through the open barn doors.

You can see the attic space in the picture above that gives you another level to put in another bedroom, office or another sitting area. Plus you can see what I mean about the openness and high ceilings.

Above is the bathroom and the next picture is the bedroom. Just take a look at the realistic detail of the materials used.

In the second picture you saw the home from the back and you see the big window just behind the green loungers, which are another collaboration by Shutter Field and Decor Junction and are available currently at Tres Chic.

If you click the window or the wheel on the wall, you will see the wheel begin to spin as the window opens, giving you this wonderful view out or whatever view you may have once positioned. You can see my hands there as I am taking a breather enjoying the night hours and the flock of birds. Now most species of birds rest during the night as I came to read, though there are some birds like for instance some sparrows that fly at night during migration periods. I think it was one of those periods.

Don’t I wish to have at least half the boundless energy that lil me displays when I bring her out to play. The animation override that I use for her has her jumping all over the place and she can run circles around you leaving you panting and out of breath before you catch her. Though she gets plumb tuckered out too and needs to sit and relax, otherwise she’s big time cranky. Of course, I speak from experience here as I just woke up from an hour nap in real life. Buglets has the perfect little checkered pillows for toddleedoos at Fiction & Fables that come in several colors and animations for sitting and laying. Just what the little one needs when you need her to stay still.

What’s that rumble?

I was going for the surprised shocked look of a child hearing the rumble coming through the fireplace except that due to a malfunction of sorts the Emoter HUD got stuck on two emotions at the same time and gave me this smile shocked expression instead. This is why I have instead an impatient fearless child that anticipates Santa is about to arrive.

Some of the creators that participated at The Arcade during this round were very generous with their gifts that you can find under the large Christmas tree that sits in the middle of the Arcade. Two of my favorite items were the milk and chocolate milk bottles and the plate of ginger pig cookies, which is just like one of our Mexican pastries that looks exactly the same just a bit thicker. They are called “Marranitos,” which translated means little piggies.

Safari tour…

Ever since grabbing this outfit from this month’s round of Collabor88 it’s been at the back of my mind to do some kind of safari scene. There is something I love about doing pictures of nature with animals. Perhaps its the wild calling me?

I think it would be absolutely cool to be so close up to the animals this way. Actually the idea of being out in a vast open space with my camera and binoculars on hand to capture the animals in their natural habitat really does appeal to me. The last time I was around animals of this type was on a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom about two years ago and I got some wonderful shots of lions, giraffes, gators and some other animals. If only I could find them.

Lesson 52

This is the last lesson in the 52 weeks course of “The Best Year of Your Life” and I want to thank everyone who shared the lessons with me. I hoped they served to be useful, encouraging and guided you in areas you might have been needing guidance on. For me personally, they have been timely messages I needed to hear and others served as reminders for things I had forgotten as life happens.

The last lesson deals with going back to the basics and for me sometimes it’s a reminder to honor that inner child in me.

Lesson 52: Go Back to the Basics

I trained in martial arts for three years, and one thing I was continually struck by is how much time we spent in each class focusing on the basics. “Without mastering the basics,” my instructor would say, “you can never move on to more advanced techniques.”

How do you create the best year of your life? Pay attention to the basics. Have compassion for yourself. Take time to go within. Set measurable goals. Do what you say you’re going to do. Appreciate what you have.

Take this week to focus on the basics. Strive to make each of these practices a regular part of your lifestyle, and the best year of your life will unfold naturally.

Your Self-Love Assignment

It’s time for a refresher course on the skills you’ve learned so far during this course. Look back over the past few weeks and note the following:

Are you compassionate with yourself, even when you make mistakes?
Have you broken agreements with yourself or others that you need to clean up?
Have you set goals or committed to action steps that you haven’t fulfilled?
Are you nourishing your physical body with proper food, rest, and exercise?
Are you taking time each day to go within?

Make a list of any of the basic skills you’ve been neglecting. Then create a plan of action to reintroduce them back into your daily schedule.

Autumn Challenge

I love Autumn, though living in Florida we hardly get more than warm humid days. I always like to say we only have two seasons, spring and summer. Nothing changes, the leaves, trees and the ground is mostly green and it’s warm throughout the year. The only relief, which isn’t much is when it rains, then you have the muggy feel. Though I enjoy living in Florida, it’s home.

Today I decided to participate in Strawberry’s meme and you can join the challenge too by following the simple instructions: Take an autumn inspired picture and/or answer the following questions about autumn. Don’t forget to leave your answers in the comments of this post and if you take an autumn picture, please add it to the Blog Memes flickr group.

Is autumn your favorite season? Why or why not? – It actually is my favorite season. Though, as mentioned above, we don’t have an autumn season in Florida. I’ve been fortunate to travel around the US during the autumn months and the changing of the leaves is absolutely breathtaking and if you add a little nip in the air and a slight breeze it feels like heaven to me.
Do you call it Autumn or Fall? – I use both without thought.
What kind of weather does your area get during this season? – It’s very warm, usually in the highs 80s, with rain showers every day. If you want to know why it rains every day in Florida, here is a really good explanation.
Which color do you always associate with autumn? – Orange
Which Autumn themed sim is your favorite at the moment? – The two that readily come to mind is Tempura Island, which is one of the few first sims I ever visited when I joined Second Life and still one I visit from time to time and continues to be by far one of my favorites. Then the Small Town of Green, which I recently visited and saw that it was decorated in Autumn colors.

If we had Autumn in Florida, I would have that same expression as in this picture. 🙂
