I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.  It’s been raining lots here in my part of the world.  While these summer thunderstorms don’t last very long they seem to come in with a vengeance at times.  They make their presence known with their thundering rumblings and strikes of lighting.

It makes for a lazy afternoon and if you have to stay indoors then why not go for a little decadence.  The Perfect 10 event is about to start in a few days and you can find this bench from Impertinences to help you if you’re so inclined to a little self-indulgence.   You can find the bench in a brown or black wood that come with a texture change hud to change the leather of the seat that also has ten poses to choose from.

If you haven’t already joined the 21Shoe group then you’re missing out on some great group gifts.  I’m wearing the latest gift that was provided by Kelpsydra, which are these stockings that come in three colors and are made to fit the Maitreya and TMP mesh bodies and also come with omega appliers and system layer.  With this pose you really can’t see much of the violet boudoir corset I’m wearing, though it was only 50 lindens and if you hurry you can still find it today.

I finally made it to the Fantasy Faire.  If you’re not familiar with this event, it is one of the biggest events for Relay for Life of Second Life, which is also a part of the Relay for Life fundraising of the American Cancer Society.  While I support this organization in real life in appreciation for their work and what it means to me personally, it is a fund raiser that I also like to support in some small way here in Second Life as well.

Even though I was able to get to the event I was not able to fully appreciate the design builds as I lagged pretty badly.  While I have better internet speed these days, there are certain places that I still struggle to walk in even if I get my rendering weight down to like 3000 and I derender everyone in sight.  Though from the pictures I’ve seen and whatever I was able to glimpse while I hopped around it looks pretty magical.

The event ends in the next couple of days so you need to visit now to take advantage of some of the great items made by some of the best fantasy designers.  Visit the website to find out what other events are happening within the event itself, because there is live music, book readings, auctions, a hunt and I even saw some areas for you to role play as well.   All that and more to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.

The website also provides you with a preview of the items that have been discounted and proceeds go towards the fund raising goals.  This system works very well and I was able to just directly teleport to the area where the items I wanted to purchase were.

This hair pin/comb is a beautifully done piece that I made larger by stretching it out.  There is a crown version that is bigger except the comb is the item for Relay for Life and since I was able to modify this it worked out great.   The dress is also from the faire and is a gacha item and while I got lucky to get the rare one I was really vying for a common one in red.  I may just have to go back.

It’s a given that everything that I purchase in Second Life is for my own entertainment regardless whether I blog, wear or even use it for that matter.  I try not to be too spoiled in my purchase endeavors, though without shame admit that I can fall prey to buying things without a second thought to the price if I want it.  I definitely don’t need it.  I confess to inwardly cringing when I see comments on blogs or Flickr about needing this or that even if I know they probably meant it as a want instead.

I didn’t need this lovely purple dress or this shiny hair edition.  Nonetheless, every now and then I will splurge on things that go beyond my usual purchases of stuff that I will use more than once if not more regularly. These items were just fifty lindens for this weeks round of 50L Friday, so I’m even conscious of not overspending too… written with a smug look.

Two sides of us

This weekend I am attempting to clean my inventory a little.   It’s a huge mess as I have not really paid any attention to it in months.  New purchases get swept into event folders and that’s how I manage to find things. It seems to be working so far, at least when I remember to make a folder right away.
Anyway, just a fun picture today of dresses and accessories I got through gacha at this last round of the Secret Affair.  The event is now closed, but Junbug usually puts her gachas in the store afterwards.

I’m a bit squirrely.

Only because I spent the good majority of my time in Second Life this evening resolving my issue of not being able to use shadows and was successful only to not even use the picture showing the shadows.   Maybe tomorrow.
To make a long story short. I updated my driver, which after some slight adjustments fixed the crashing problem when I enabled advanced lighting.  Though if it were that easy.  That in turn created a problem of mesh going invincible as a result of the AMD Catalyst 14.12 driver not rendering rigged mesh unless the hardware skinning is disabled.  Well doing that meant I couldn’t use advanced lighting and that means no shadows.  A little more researching the issue led me to Inara Pey’s blog, where it provided a workaround to this problem.   Basically copying some DLL files and placing them into your viewer folder and that ultimately solved the last problem.
I feel all sorts of accomplished now.

Alexa & Claire

During this round of Enchantment one of the prizes if you completed a stamp card was this long hair from Tableau Vivant.   It comes with lots of color choices, so not a bad prize at all.   My friend Claire and I really liked this hair so we decided to take some photos together.  I was shooting for the Latina Rapunzel except black in this hair didn’t look very good on me.

I’m also the proud owner of the llama that’s next to me thanks to Claire.  It’s absolutely cute and you just wear it and it walks right along side of you. You can find them at the ongoing school festival.  I still have not been able to complete this event, each time I go its pretty full and it lags me terribly that it’s impossible to even look.

Another post to show some more decorative items that Aphrodite Shops has released for Halloween. The effects of each of the items are pretty cool. If you get close to the picture frame with the walking zombies it falls forward and the other the eyes do a strange  thing.   If you get near the black splatter mark on the floor it activates a zombie coming out of the floor and not pictured is the zombie girl that comes through the wall if you stumble into the wall. Get near the books and it activates the writer’s spirit!  Spooky!

I got this crown at the new round of Fantasy Collective that opens today to use for some future post.  Well it sort of worked out using it with this highland wedding gown that was a gacha item at The Gathering event that was recently held. I think that I might just go walking out on the grid with this gown.  I need a veil after all.

Thank you to all of you who reached out to me in-world to find out how I  was doing.  The bruise on my arm is about the length of the tattoo in this picture and is now changing color signifying it’s on its way back to normal.  My knee is still tender and I can’t laugh without feeling the soreness.  Nothing like a fall to bring you back to reality.

Even if my real self is sore and feeling like I’ve been battered my pixels feel pretty darn good in this stunning dress from Junbug.  It was available during the mystery gacha that is now over.  I’m not certain if it will be available at the store — though worth checking out.  If not just ding me in-world I’m sure that I have an extra dress and stole and my inventory will surely thank you.

Good & Evil

The dichotomy of good and evil has always been an interesting subject and I can safely say it dates as far back to the age of the bible.  I don’t plan to talk about morals or religion as that is a personal thing that I try never to debate unless it’s with people who will accept your difference of thoughts, beliefs and opinions and can still smile at you after the conversation.  I will say this.  Personally, I think the relevance lies in the seed of both good and evil that exists inside each of us.  It’s definitely a balancing act when it comes to choosing which one will win.

It’s only mid morning and its dark and raining here — so this picture feels perfect for the overcast day we’re having.
